Review: What a year it has already been for the DUPLOC collective. A crew that has done more than almost any to uphold and push the future of dubstep forward, both as a label and as a general entity. This latest drop sees them pull together this enormity of their 'BLXCK TXPES' releases for one almighty collection, bringing together the likes of Oxossi, Ternion Sound, Wraz, ENiGMA Dubz, Hypho and many other titan-weight producers for possibly the most loaded dubstep drop in recent years. Although previously released, it's fair to name a few highlights, including the super jittery subs of Roklem & Sebalo's 'Shake The System', the bulbous bass bounces of Lost's 'Level Up' and of course, the authentic sounds of Hamdi with his generational smasher 'Skanka'.

Review: As generals and overseers of the dubstep genre for a number of years, we are always filled with excitement around a new drop from the ever-present Dank 'N' Dirty Dubz imprint, who once again have delivered a killer collection for this year's edition of their 4/20 compilation. Featuring the likes of The Widdler, Roommate, Pushloop, Jafu and many more heavyweight names, this is a compilation that hits the mark across so many levels, with its variation being a primary factor. The initial standouts on first full listen for us, would have to include the scattered drum taps of Khromi's awesome 'Loki' VIP mix, next to the super dubwise atmospherics of Jafu's 'Budder' original. Top work across the board!

Review: You can always rely on the Duploc team to deliver on the big stage, with this latest collection seeing them continue their 'BLXCK TXPES' series into its second edition. Featuring 8 hardy originals, the roster is truly stacked with talent, with the likes of ENiGMA Dubz, 11th Hour, Pushloop, Hypho and more veterans all making themselves known, next to a couple of very tidy original creations from Chef Boyarbeatz and DubDiggers / 207. Our two highlights come from right at the top of the project, with Hamdi's 'Skanka' being one of the most sought after 140 originals of 2022 and Lost's 'Level Up', being an irresistible swampy roller. The whole collection however just oozes quality and is another emphatic victory for one of the most consistent 140 outlets out there.

Featuring a pretty exceptional tracklisting, we see the likes of Oakin, Khromi, Jafu, Requake, Mambele, L-Wiz, Pushloop and many more established faces land with a dizzying set of dubwise designs, perfect for both the late night ravers and the day-time skankers. Our two highlights would have to include the skippy chord jitters and booming subs of Nightmare & Oni's 'Soldier Stance', followed by the breaks infused percussive drifts of 'Champagne' from The Widdler, giving us a serious sack of sizzlers to enjoy!

Review: As always, the Dank N Dirty Dubz team have supplied us with a spectacular compilation selection as they release the 2021 edition of their '4/20 Compilation Series'. Featuring 21 original masterpieces, the project is stooped in heavyweight dubstep names, including the like of Roomate, Pushloop, The Widdler, The Greys, Khromi and more. It's a wicked project overall, exploring the full depth of dubstep, from the emotive soundscaping of Demure's 'Alien' original, to the more jovial melodies of 'Oh, I Insist' from Blicka and futuristic dubwise delights of Morning High's 'Contemplate'. It's a powerful selection, not only showcasing how solid the label is looking, but also dubstep music as a whole. Our highlights include the colourful melodic skips of L-Wiz's 'Pcm Dub', the trancelike arpeggios of Repulsion's 'Old Photos' and of course the softened dubwise delights of 'Duality' from Distant Memories.

Review: Following on from last week's release of 'Deep', the Deep Dark & Dangerous crew continue their 'Trilogy' series with the second edition: 'Dark'. They have again assembled one heck of a line up for this one, welcoming in the sounds of Enigma Dubz, Leon Switch, Khiva and Pushloop just for starters. The project is a perfect encapsulation of the darker side of the DD&D discography, with a couple of immediate standouts being 'The Devil In Disguise', which sees JLEON and Outsider link up for an incredibly spooky harmonic thrill ride, alongside Brassic's 'Footsoldier', which deploys a regiment of lethal horn stabs to turn any rave into a ruckus!

Review: It has been a seriously long while since we saw dubstep in such a strong position, with an incredible selection of newcomers making their way to the forefront and a number of the old guard continuing to up the levels. This latest single drop from the team at Sentry sees three powerhouses in Abstrakt Sonance, Substance and Pushloop come together for a grimey roller on an official 'Smoking Blunts' remix. Pushloop gives this one a seriously gritty edge, using stunning horn stabs and warbling metallic bass stabs in a perfect call and response motion. This one will most certainly be lighting up dances up and down the country.

Review: It's always a thrill to see what Deep Dark & Dangerous have in the locker as they here unveil their latest acquisition, handing the floor over to Pushloop who touches down with four tracks of sublime quality, We kick off with the title track 'Loose Wires', which utilizes some incredibly squidgy percussion to give the track a real swampy texture, followed by the rawcus LFO's and demonic chord structures of 'Spicy Grilled Cheese'. Everything then intensifies as the fuzzy 808 subs of 'Pot Cookies' roll into play, before the super punchy snare slaps and booming bass synthesizers of 'Old's Cool' round off another top notch selection from the Deep Dark & Dangerous team.

Review: Now as far as compilations go, this without a doubt has to be one of our favourite dubstep selections of the year so far as Dank n Dirty unveil seventeen original creations, featuring high profile appearances from the likes of Aztek, Arta, Liquid Memoirs, Enigma Dubz and more. For us, this compilation showcases so much, from the emotional tones of 'Shaking & Withdrawn' from Legend4ry and the dubwise inspired arrangements of Otz's 'Moody Dub', to the super shuffling rhythms of 'Kashmir' from Khromi. For us, there are some real standouts to this one, the first of which comes from living dubstep legend: The Widdler, with his spacey, dub-infused original entitled 'THC'. As well as this, the potent collaboration between Roomate and Dokter named 'Overstanding' packs a serious punch.

Review: For us, there are few North American producers who have had as much of a positive influence on the traditional dubstep sound as The Widdler, who has been at the forefront of swampy sound design for a long time. Here we see him team up with the precise production prowess of Pushloop for 5 tracks of pure danger. To start 'Abydos' takes us down a satanic sidestreet of growling subs and asian melodies, with 'Houdini' providing some more riddim inspired bass drivers and 'Wiccan Witches' causing an absolute ruckus. Both producers have also included solo creations, with Pushloop's being a super swingy percussive ride in 'Broken Murals'. The Widdler then strikes with 'Calamity', a masterpiece in eastern dubstep fusion. Incredible stuff.

Review: Too Much Tuna by Pushloop is new-age bass music at its finest. The title track's loping, monotonous dubstep notes wrap themselves around your ears, greyish tones stirking deep with tinky stabs bringing the highs and balancing out the range. Martians is more pointed, stabbing drums bring out the best of the bassline, a low-end that carries a sense of anger an injustice as it barrels forward. Reptoid is a different tip; weirder and harder to like but even more rewarding, with distorted highs dominating like a much cooler version of Mario Kart, one that's garish and simply doesn't care. Computer Takeover brings up the rear with lunging, aggressive bass stabs set against a properly murky percussive echo. Moody, yet manages to bring some funk to the table. If you're into your dubstep, be sure to check this.

Review: We have a winner... Frequency Dreams entered Dank N Dirty Dubz' Pushloop remix competition last year and this epic three tracker is the result. Building on his Version Collective and Dub Sector releases, Frequency Dreams hits home with a trio of tightly coiled vibes; "Axis" is a well oiled machine humming with pneumatic funk, "Radiate" is a little more introspective with its heavy atmospheres and gutter scuffing bass while his remix of Pushloop's "Secret Society" provides the grand finale where a whole new quirky staccato riff ups the energy while paying full respect.

Review: Time for a latter platter; Utah abyss explorers Durandal and Funkmod make their debut on the mighty DND with five stinking bass creepers. Vibes range from soaking wet frog bass and alien weirdness on "Choomah Dub" to pressure cooked bounce dynamics and shimmering skanks on "Wise Up". Need more you greedy animal? Review: Weirdo handshake fingers in the air! Pushloop returns with another invitation to his mysterious gang. Last spotted on DNDD in February 2017, "Secret Society" is now packing remix heat. SBK invites us with a little bass fluctuation, Morning High invites via a stopover in Istanbul thanks to its breath-taking prayer calls, Meinu doesn't so much as invite us but pushes us in to the deep end with no safety devices and Coltcuts takes us along the distorted scenic route. Finally Sudo brings us into the fold on the 176 express. One way trippers only.

Review: As the year draws towards a swift finale, the Deep Dark & Dangerous crew have one more final bag of dubstep dynamite to bless us all with before we finish up. This project is a collection of official remixes, featuring the likes of dubstep heavyweights such as Truth, Kloudmen, ColtCuts, Dark Harmonics and many more. Overall as a project, it surfs across the entire spectrum really well, leaving no corner of the ever expanding genre unexplored. Highlights for us are without a doubt the haunted atmospheric vocals and syncopated keys that come with the two Sepia remixes of 'Regret' and 'Smoke', along with Leon Switch's ultra-metallic rework of Enochi's 'Nefarious'.

Review: Dalek One, Pushloop and ColtCuts bundle forces for the next single on TRUTH's record label Deep Dark & Dangerous. They come forward with a unique track, entitled as "Desert Merchants", which is largely stuffed with warm and gentle eastern vibes. The high-ends are filling up a dry atmosphere highlighted by mirages. Topping off, the exhausting sub bass leaves the abandoned sandscape left with steaming hot temperatures. Nothing but heat coming from the DDD family as usual. DDD022 is due to release on the 6th of October 2017.

Review: Californian bass crusader makes himself known on DNDD with four heavyweight cuts. "Midnight Wax" soundtracks a paranoid graveyard prowl, all shadows and owl hoots. "Secret Society" is a harmonically fine-tuned stepper that's tailored for the biggest of rigs while "White Magic" blows cosmic pipe wind into our third eyes with total dubspace satisfaction and "Kula Kula" takes us deep into the north African deserts with immense and foreboding results. Remix-wise Caidance adds layers of hazy mystical atmospheres while The Widdler fazes out the vocal and remoulds our attention to the drums. Debuts don't come much stronger than this.
