Review: Pushmann & Fixon's collaboration on RSPX merges the vibrant musical cultures of Spain and Mexico, resulting in a Rekids Special Projects release. Drawing from their collective experiences on labels like ANAOH and Pushmann's N&N, the duo delivers The Tribalism - four tracks of undeniable tribal techno - no joke. For fans of 2000s James Ruskin, Mark Broom and of course Robert Hood, there's touches inspirations from label like NON Series and the funkier side Token too. With some gospel inspirations making their way into 04, 01 runs the gauntlet with its looped vocal cut and tonal percussion next to the tripped out and druggy haze of 02, with 03 going big room, dubby and looped up. Detroit in house. UK in the building. Spain & Mexico to the world.

Review: Soma's Collective Process is designed to connect the dots between modern techno's disparate sounds. The tenth edition of the series achieves this feat in style. Aida Arko's "Just One Dream" resounds to a hammering rhythm and hypnotic, textured swirls. Farnaz' contribution, "Surrounded By Fascination" may unfolds to a frenetic pace but it is also musical, thanks to the use of building chords. On "Inner Movements", Fixon & Pushmann deliver a lean, drum-heavy groove that builds and drops seductively thanks to the use of tripped out tones and coruscating riffs. And last but by no means least is the funk bass-led of Philippe Petit's "Evolution".

Review: With releases notched up on Be As One and KMS, Pushmann aka Victor Villa now debuts on Hardgroove. "Hydnum" is powered by tough kicks and clicking percussion but also has a deeply soulful sensibility thanks to the use of a repetitive vocal sample. The sound of the human voice is also audible on "Ephemera", with Pushmann deploying a looped snippet over a dense rhythm and steely, doubled-up claps. On "Huecha", the Spanish producer goes deeper; a mysterious bass is fused with muffled vocals to provide the centre piece for an arrangement that also features rasping percussion. Keeping the release varied throughout, Pushmann also drops a minimal track, "Felleus", whose dramatic percussive twists and turns have echoes of vintage Robert Hood.

Review: Ben Sims builds on the first Synchronicity instalment with another compelling collection of emerging techno producers. Kerrie and Szmer's contributions both draw on minimal techno for inspiration, with the former following an acid-laced path and the latter incorporating repetitive bleeps and haunting synths into the arrangement. The compilation takes a Detroit turn on Insolate's "Night Love" - a blurry, jittery slice of techno with shades of Juan Atkins and Terrence Dixon. Meanwhile, a deeper but still dance floor sound is audible on Private Press' "Wiadomo Driven", where bleeps and tones fly off the rigid rhythm at random. Reflecting Sims' own tough but diverse DJ sound, Synchronicity also throws out some curve balls, like the dubbed out "Rectifier Direct" from A Thousand Details.
