Review: With releases on EarToGround and Warm Up, PWCCA already has a respected catalogue. Now he brings his hard-edged sound to Bas Mooy's label. Fans of hard, industrial-flavoured techno will find much to love here. Both "Blood Stream" and "Conscious Sedation" are corrosive, abrasive workouts, while "Inert Condition" and "Asleep" are led by acrid acid lines. "Sedative Process" sees PWCCA veer into a more abstract direction. Led by bleak bass tones, these elements hang on a stepping groove. He also makes nods to 90s influences. The dense drums on "Depressed Level" are redolent of Lost Recordings techno, while the noisy intensity of "Review Phase" calls to mind the output of labels like Sativae.
Review: Up next on Lewis Fautzi's label is Pwcca, who has released on well-known labels like Ear To Ground and Warm Up. There is no doubt that when it comes to hard-edged techno, this is an essential release. Channelling the influence of Steve Bicknell's Lost and the visceral end of Jeff Mills, this four-tracker is built on dense, at times distorted slabs of sub-bass and intense off-beat rhythms. This approach finds form on the barnstorming title track and the one-note bleeps of "Detention Center". Meanwhile, "Escape From Confinement" is a more cerebral track based on woozy synths. However, it's only a temporary divergence and "Tracking Failure" finds Pwcca re-focused on the same intense techno sound as before.
Review: Jose Chacon aka PWCCA makes his Mord debut with a heavyweight four-tracker. The title track gets the release off to a thrilling start, as a dense, grimy bass provides the backdrop for firing hi hats and punchy drums. "Circle Trip" further ramps up the intensity levels, with a distorted low end and pummelling kicks. There is no let-up either on "Wrong Destination". This time, the drums are denser than before, and they give a platform to shrill percussive volleys and an all-encompassing, frazzled riff. In comparison, "Failed Data" sounds laid back, but its stepping rhythm and textured filters still pack a powerful punch.
