#03 B2 - (6:00)
122 BPM Review: The first two Raw Series releases dropped back in 2011 and 2012, at the height of anonymous, hand-stamped techno fever. Now four years later, this unknown artist returns with his/her debut album. Simply titled 03, it continues to draw both visually and musically on a no-frills, underground approach. "A2" and "A3" are based on the austere chords and stepping, steely rhythms of MDR, Shed and Klockworks, but it isn't all functional music. "A1" and "B1" are both ambient, mood pieces, while "B3" is a bassy electro affair, all of which hints that the author isn't against considering alternatives. Equally though, the listener should be under no illusion that Raw Series remains a techno project as the cold, slamming rhythm of "C3" so ably demonstrates.
