Review: The most important thing to remember when planning a high profile dubstep compilation as to keep it both interesting and abstract at the time, a theme that the CNCPT Collective team has move certainly worked into their favour on this new 'Marble Effect' compilation project. The likes of Creme, Reaction, Telfonik and Xakra all supply some killer work, but we have to take a second to highlight our two favourites. Firstly, the unpredictable percussive expressions of 'Circa's Straps & Cash' is something for your ears to behold, jam packed with metallic goodness. We also can't get enough of Muttley's lethal 'Since Way Back', giving this project enough sauce to fight with the best of them.

Review: Wake up and smell the bake up, Walsh's Biscuit Factory have cooked a fresh batch from three relative newcomers and the results are highly scrumptious; Nottingham three-piece kick off with abyss plunged bass tones and more space that Professor Brian Cox's daydreams, Rufus!'s "Slug Crawl" lives up to its name perfectly with molten rhythmic elements and stacks of tightly coiled funk in the groove while Reaction closes the show on a mystic introspective tip. Grub's up!

Review: Subquake feels like the perfect imprint for the likes of Reaction, an artist who is quietly shaping the deeper end of the dubstep spectrum almost single-handedly. Much like the artist, the imprint is on a similar path to glory. "Jelly Brain" gets all the ticks from us right from the off; that militant bassline feels catchy and seductive, full of dread and London sensibility, while "Roll" stirps the pace down to a heartical slice of dubwise meditation, and "Back To It" launches an all-out attack in the form of some pretty penetrative sirens infused with all sorts of bass fumes.

Review: Having set the sturdiest of bass foundations on Abyssal earlier this year, Reaction now builds on them with a solid four-track opus that marches forth with futurist intentions. "Tesla" is a dynamic dedication to the groove as militant drums develop over a salubrious sub. "Stomp!" is an ardent battle-jam with the grittiest bass you'll hear all year and it's countered by the authentic dub spaciousness of the Truth-style "Revolution". Finally we hit "Forgotten Smile", a barbed breezer with intricate rolling drums, breathing pads and minor-key weeps. Contemporary dubstep at its finest.
