Review: The second instalment in Bpitch Control's compilation series gets off to a rousing start, with Rebekah dropping a pounding, hardcore-influenced techno track, "Last Summer". The same intensity levels are audible on Inhalt Der Nacht's "In Lust Verirrt" and Tham's "The Third Kind" but deployed differently, with both acts using swirling acid lines and blustery filters to arrive at the same destination. While keeping the focus on the dance floor, ebm influences loom large on "Herzschlag Der Figur" from German trio Die Selektion. The compilation also embraces ghetto techno as Andrew Moore delivers the slamming "That Makes Me So Horny" and big-room 303 mayhem on Alien Rain's "Dream Interceptor".

Review: The idea that music should stay away from politics is flawed, and Break The Silence is one of the most convincing counter-arguments against this notion. Featuring unreleased tracks donated by a stellar cast of underground electronic music artists, the compilation seeks to raise funds for Campaign Zero, an initiative that campaigns against police violence in the US. With artists like Rob Hood, 4 Hero and Luke Slater all contributing to Break The Silence, the listener really is spoilt for choice while also supporting a great cause. However, the standouts come from Eddie Fowlkes and Jon Dixon, who both drop superb jazz-influenced house tracks.

Review: What a year it's been for Perc Trax. The label's long-term championing of harder-edged techno has paid off, with the roster starting to get wider recognition. Manni Dee's contribution to this year in review compilation is the pounding techno of "Gulabi Gang", which comes close to 140bpm and features wild screeches and howls. Scalameriya, another artist championed by the label, drops three tracks that characterise this tough techno sound; "Crucible" is a straight up sheet metal banger, while on "Slobodna" he opts for a noisy industrial approach and "Hellzone Megapunk" is an ear bleed-inducing pounder. I Hate Models is the artist most likely to make the big break though, as the pile-driving acid of "Spreading Plague" and the break beat-led "Martial Order" demonstrate.

Review: Perc Trax launches a new split release series with a difference. All of the tracks on Forever 1 have been tested in clubs by label owner Ali 'Perc' Wells', and it shows. Manni Dee's "Gulabi Gang" is a ferocious stomper, led by concrete weight kicks and wild metallic riffs, while on Rebekah's "Diamond in the Rough", visceral drums, noisy percussion and white noise riffs prevail. The label has also tapped Scalameriya for a track and "Slobodna" resounds to broken percussion, noisy betas and a searing central riff that fades in and out, causing a sense of disorientation. Last but not least is John Heckle's Head Front Panel project with the aptly named "Furious", a malevolent slice of early Mills-influenced, dense techno.

Review: The fourth instalment in the Dead Architect series is a proper heads-down affair. It starts off with label owner Developer delivering "Utero", a visceral, pulsing groove encased in concrete kick drums. Rhomb, who has released a few EPs on Modularz, also keeps the focus on peak-time sounds with the rave stabs and subterranean bass of "Helix", which unfolds over a galloping groove. Rebekah maintains the intensity levels with the chain mail percussion and relentless rhythm of "Reflex", while CNCPT, another artist who has released before on the US imprint drops "Frazil". While it's not as fast-paced as other tracks, its dark tones and rasping hi-hats bring this split release to a close with a menacing undercurrent.

Review: Birmingham's Rebekah follows through with another powerful display of techno aggression for Adam X's esteemed industrial electronics imprint. The CLR and Soma Recordings affiliated artist follows up a great release on her own Decoy imprint with the Into The Black EP - and it's a fitting title really. These four techno weapons are pitch black to be precise! The abrasive and shredding onslaught of opening track "Loose Mechanics" sets the theme of the EP immediately while the brooding and contorted techno of the title track brings down the tempo, but certainly not the violence. Tunnelling and heads down techno for strobe-lit warehouse spaces is catered for on the functional "Conquest" while "War Cry" shows off another side of her sonic personality on this somewhat evocative yet dystopian journey through the electro sound. Highly recommended, however please handle with caution!

Review: Code Black is Rebekah's third release on Soma and showcases her progress as a producer. Fans of pitch-black club tracks will be drawn to the title track, with its dead weigh kicks, neat percussive bursts and woozy synths that sway and shimmer like a drunk on a trampoline. "X Confessions" is markedly different. It sees Rebekah explore intense acid, with tweaked 303s and rasping percussion unfolding over rough drums. It sounds like she has applied her dance floor-savvy thinking to a Hieroglyphic Being jam. Finally, "Relapse Paradigm" showcases Rebekah's love of purist techno, with wild tonal sequences unfolding over a Slater-style groove.

Review: Anxiety is Rebekah's follow up to her debut on Soma last year and consolidates her reputation as a diverse techno producer. At one end of the spectrum there's the title track; centered on distorted kicks and a buzzing bass, it tails off unexpectedly into an acid climax. At the other end is "19 Grams". It has the same hypnotic quality as Sandwell District as it builds gradually over a pulsing bass. Somewhere in the middle is "The Riddle". Inspired by Rebekah's love of Birmingham techno, it sees her interpret the clanging percussion and dense tribal beats of Regis for a big-room audience.

Review: This is Mord's most ambitious venture to date, with a box set of seven records laying out the Dutch imprint's tough techno agenda. Regulars like UVB and Radial set the tone, with the former dropping brutish kicks and jarring riffs on "Someone Calling Cut" and Radial veering into a pumping direction on "Cru".Label owner Bas Mooy moves the compilation towards a more streamlined approach with the dense, linear Klockworks-like "Owl In Daylight", but Herdersmat also shows that the label has succeeded in attracting some heavyweight international talent; Eomac's "Phisk" is a disorienting rave-flecked stepper and Sleeparchive drops the bleep-heavy bomb that is "Evicted".

Review: Rebekah's debut on Soma is proof that hard work and dedication, as well as talent, pays off. The UK DJ has been producing music for nearly 10 years and was supported by CLR. Indeed, the aptly named "Kill Floor" on this release could have easily appeared on Chris Liebing's label, and revolves around heavy, slamming drums and grungy, swinging percussion. However, it's the title track that shows Rebekah is coming into her own as a producer. Deep and hypnotic, yet powered by an insistent tribal rhythm, the icy synths at its heart are among the most distinctive you'll hear on a techno record in 2015.
