Review: Finally, a Redline the sound engineer in the club won't break your balls about. Previously spotted on the likes of Dutty Bass and Deep In The Jungle, here we find the young talent getting his jazzy flex on with Liondub International. Five tracks deep, Redline plays with the contrasts throughout as we're taken from light to dark at the flick of a switch. Stand-out moments across the collection include the lavish piano rolls and groaning bassline of 'Chaaa', the Bristol style drum groove and stark sound design on the bass of 'Celebration' and the leftfield, mischievous meanderings of 'Selassie'. Loving this.

Review: A long time ago, in a land far, far away, Deep in the Jungle unleashed interplanetary destruction on a galactic scale. Not really, but they are channelling the force with this compilation, which ropes in some of the galaxy's fiercest producers to craft old-school riddims with a futuristic touch. Conrad Subs lands all phasers blasting with a bunch of different cuts, and his collaboration 'Rock On' with DJ Hybrid is an absolute percy, a sub-heavy wobbler that oozes funk through brass stabs and a rhythmic, catchy approach. Redline flips a light, fluttery intro into bassline-led low frequency devastation, whilst Kartoon gets old school with his remix 'Lions of Judah' by Sharpz. Unreal stuff.

Review: Deep in the Jungle continue their onwards march with this, the seventh edition in their widely acclaimed Anthems series, a compilation that always finds the ideal mix of current and future talent to showcase. In the case of the former, well-travelled producers Epicentre and Kumarachi roll things out and tear them down on 'Light Em Up', which features a gnarly array of interlinked bass nodes and torn low frequency sonics, al underpinned by a percussion section that's the perfect blend of rusty and sharp. New talent emerges in the form of Trobe and Mirage, who have their first label release with '89', although you wouldn't have guessed it based off this tune's razor clean percussive edge and expert use of space, a hard thing to get right and one this pair blow out the water here. Rave samples, expansive basslines and a synth arrangement you won't be able to shake - unmissable. 34 tracks later and Deep in the Jungle have nailed every single one of them - big ups.

Review: Redline is back, back again and it's once more on Dutty Bass, the label which never ceases to pump out music which pummels you, pleases and you and punishes you in equal measure. This time around he's cooked up a fiery five-tracker and it's a percy, with five slices of trademark damage that tread a wicked line between over-the-top jump-up and moody rollers. 'Street Knowledge' is the best example of that, as the drums roll out into oblivion and a gargling expression of bass energy lights up the top end of the range in stabby, serious fashion. Energy, energy.

Review: Previously spotted on the likes of Deep In The Jungle, Redline makes his debut on Erbman & Krunk's Juicy Fruit with four precision roll-outs tailored for those soon-to-open dancefloors. All stripped back in their mindset but savage in their spirit, highlights include the loose-limbed badness of the title track "Another Sound" and the wild break chops and toxic bassline grunts of "Fiiire". Who needs another sound when you got sounds as good as these? Get juiced up.

Review: For this bumper of a VA, Juicy Fruit have roped in Redline, Erbman, Rival Technique and more for the 2nd instalment in their Juicy Gang series. Featuring 7 street-focused cuts, there's a plethora of styles here that make this EP an easy win for anybody who appreciates the diversity of music the scene has to offer. Redline lands with the old-school, junglist cut that isn't the most glamorous but which gets the job done in a fashion only the old school can. Kovert Sound and Bill & Ed take things up a notch in terms of heaviness, whilst Hannibal Selector gets all funky with an wicked set of samples and some stuttering rolling drums. Wicked, wicked.

Review: Kevlar Beas release some of the best compilations around, partly because they have a large contingent of affiliated artists to draw upon but mostly just because the curation team over there is top-notch. The aptly named Strength in Numbers features a load of acs from Quaa Rush to DJ Direkt, the former of which is responsible for 'Vecran', which packs a great, old-school and funky drum line and bouncy, soulful bass nodes which warp and wobble through a really cool arrangement. Danny Anger nails it with the soul-infused jungle vibes of 'Tallies Side Step', and this release in general combines loads of different pallettes to great effect. Fantastic.

Now a tradition for DJ Hybrid's label, this anthem collection is one of the biggest to date with names and vibes across the spectrum. Epicentre, Kumarachi, Conrad Subs, Stompz, Veak, RMS and many more all bring their fieriest artillery with highlights bursting from the seams. Every single track slaps the dance from the stripped back drumfunk and demented mentasms of Substrate's "Throwback" to the mystic sitar twangs and heavy bass bangs of Euphonique's "Moksha" via ruded up Dread bass badness of the bossman's own "Lost In The Jungle". And that's not even the tippiest tip of this anthemic jungle iceberg. Don't dilly dally.

Review: Liondub International's 10 year celebrations continue with a sense-shocking body slam into the future of the label and its ever-growing family of talented artists. Hitting hard like the label's ever-on-point Street Series, the rollcall reads like a who's who in gully talent: Dutta, Bou, Jayline, Vital, BlckHry and loads more. Whether you want to be completely twisted and spat back out by a brass section (Pharoah's "Fire In The Hole") you'd prefer to be hoovered by a jet engine then shot up into the stars (Jayline's "1408") or you're more into the idea of being rattled around in a big tin bassline can (Danny The WildChild's "Body Moves") this future shock has every physical experience contemporary (but heavily rooted) drum & bass can offer. Review: KLP Records are turning 25, a crazy achievement that puts them right up there with Metalheadz et al, and so they're celebrating with a big compilation of tunes. Nicky Blackmarket, Klips & Outlaw kick things off on remix duties for DJ Monk's Touch Me, Tease Me. It's a classic combination of artists and the end result is equally timeless, with a sense of vocal softness descending into hard percussive knocks and grating jump-up synth work. It sets the tone for the rest of the album, which features contributions from Dublic, DJ QT, DJ Vapour and a load more. Unbelievable.

Fresh from the stashes of SR, Kumarachi, Aries, Vinyl Junkie, Conrad Subs, Octo Pi and many more on-point junglists across the generations, many of these tracks are brand new and all of them are heavier than a night down the Weight Watchers. Highlights include Conrad Sub's skanky groaner "Good As Gold", Jaguar Paw's utter filth session "Southside", Jay Aftermath's gnarly tech/soundsystem hybrid "The Jungle" and the pure rave purrs of Vinyl Junkie & Sanxion's "Outlandish"... Review: Deep In The Jungle got picked out by UKF has one of the top labels of 2018 the other week and it's certainly well deserved, for they just consistently bang out some of the most vibey jungle around. They also represent forthcoming artists and we'll always support those who give a platform to people who otherwise might not. The album is a huge fifty tracks, spanning some well-known names like DJ Hybrid, SL8R, Conrad Subs, RMS and Kumarachi. The latter kicks off the album with a bang, 'Have You Here' sweeping down the range with its DLR-esque bassline and riotous attitude. It's a emblematic of the quality present on the rest of the album - check it out.

Review: Dutty business: Toronto's DBA crew lay down their second supersized V/A LP of the year and it's an absolute gully jamboree. Ranging from the wobbled-out slaps of Euphonique's "Sound Dead" to twisted drones of Tryptamine's "Gang" via the wily 96 skanks and bubblesome bass of ScattyOne's "Wicked Babylon", Tomoyoshi's funk flipping triplets on "Time & Space" and the awesome halftime sludge of DJ Hybrid's clever Drop Out remix of "Raised In The Jungle" there's genuinely not one even slightly under par track here. Dutty Bass Audio are absolutely smashing the game right here.

Review: Toronto's Dutty Bass Audio continue to hold a lighter in the air, in dedication to the proper old-school sounds of '90s techstep - and we salute them! Label regulars and locals return for this label compilation, which as the name may suggests features some right rollers! From Konz's darkside breaks on "Breathe" (version remix), the seething minimal stepper by Redline named "Jungle Demon" which is reminiscent of DJ Krust, or Bill & Ed's particularly fierce "Clapped Up" featuring what is undoubtedly the most A1 bassline we have heard all year.

Review: Our great old Uncle Junodownload taught us three things: always stick to a deadline, stay off the breadline and watch out for rising Dose Radio junglist DJ Redline. He was right about the first two, and guess what? He's right about Redline too. Following two cracking EPs on Kevlar and Manic Beats comes this tight trio on Dutty Bass. All lean, all mean; each cut thumps with some exceptional well-spaced drum work, tuned subs and thick toxic grooves that you can imagine going down well with the likes of Randall or T>I around 3am in a rave den near you.
