Review: Freshness abounds! Refracta reconnects with the Born On Road with two totally stunning emotional D&B breakdowns. 'Slave To Sound' takes the lead with its super dramatic opener and sense of synth majesty. 'You Make Me Feel Alive' continues that feeling but with even more latent drama and emotional urgencies in the halftime arrangements. Both really interesting and forward-thinking tracks; few labels in drum & bass have smashed things so meteorically as Born On Road and its releases like this that are the reason why.

Review: DJ Hybrid's Audio Addict look back over another diverse and exciting year with this excellent 'Reloaded' VA that cherry picks 25 of the many highs throughout 2022. All flavours, all styles, all energies, expect the full spectrum here from Ozone's alien squelching 'OG' to menacing, minimal finger clickers like Jam Thieves' 'Outbreak' to dreamier, emotional switch flippers like Klimate's 'Through My Eyes'. Riddled with pristine bangers from the likes of Vital, Prestige, Posk, Joely, Exile and many more, this is a great snapshot of a very successful year for DJ Hybrid's label.

Review: Dishing out a minimum of a release a month on massive labels like Shogun, Elevate and Invicta, Scottish dynamo Refracta jumps aboard Logan D's Low Down Deep with two more emotional bruisers. 'Fuel' is all about the big bouncy bassline Q&A that leaps from one side of the dancefloor with cosmic abandon. 'Night Like This' gets a little more sadboi with its mournful chords and yearning processed vocal. Sentimental yet savage.

With a strong funk flavour running throughout, artists like Mase, Refracta and Harley D deliver some of their sassiest and soulful cuts to date. Elsewhere Jam Thieves brings a little dirt, B-Plexx adds a brisk and breezy rave charm while StillZ delivers one of his finest moments so far with his remix of Fraser & Caramel's 'Mellow'. Review: This various artists release from Born on Road is packed full of twisted sounds for you wrap your noggins around, and there's a sick blend of aesthetics and styles amongst all the filth. 'Turbulent Times' by Gray and Rider Shafique is wobbly and rolling, it packs all of its energy into the sub-bass and just flows out with style alongside some wicked MC work. 'Pieces of Eight' by Trex is a monstrosity of energy, with a superb drum section that packs more character into the arrangement than you can wag a finger at, whilst Bruk edges in over the top with 'Waps', showing what a hefty dose of technoid energy can bring to the beat. Big.

Review: Invicta have been making some serious waves the past year or so and with a growing recognition that they're one of the best labels releasing a consistent slew of music, they're celebrating their evolution with a multi-part LP. This is the first instalment and a whole crew is on things with a six-tracker of frightening proportions, packed full of solid percussive strikes and flowing basslines. 'Dance Girl' has a seriously funky rhythmic pattern and a slick array of basslines, whilst 'Life' takes things in a funkier direction with ragga sampling and a fluid concoction of sub-heavy bass magic. There are also more melancholic, deeper sounds, as B-Plexx nails the liquid vibe on 'Too High' - top.

'88' sets the tone; bouncy, fun but full of weight and grit.
