Review: Madness from Manchester! Sola's Grand Theft Audio wrap up another stunning year with this truly epic VA that - as the title Full Spectrum nicely hints - reflects and celebrates the full dynamic range of this beautiful thing we call drum & bass. Over the 33 track range we're treated to all manner of treats and beats from dreamy disco-like flexes (B-Plexx - 'Cynical') to wild, untamed howlers that melt clothes within seconds of you hearing the bass (Replete - ' Theia'). There's so much swagger in between, too. Hologram's G'd up 'Make A Move' acts as the perfect opener while other cuts such as Korrode's futuristic dark funk stepper 'Alternate Universe', Voltone & Stuart Rowe's euphoric dancefloor bubbler 'Drift' and Tong8's soulful swooner 'Choice' all map out some of GTA's most exciting sonic parameters so far. Full spectrum by name, full flavour by nature.

Review: Full spectrum by name, widescreen badassery by nature: Sola's Grand Theft Audio imprint gears up for another epic end-of-year compendium with this inaugural sampler. Tengu takes the lead with the wig-melting 'Hellraiser' before Luka goes into a really interesting electro-style riffy bassline buzzcut 'Distance'. Elsewhere Replete goes full lawn mower mode on the diesel powered 'Theia' and Corrupted Mind's 'Error' brings the EP to a very interesting, twisted garage-inspired vibe. If these are anything to by, the whole VA is going to be utter fire.

Review: Manchester mandem Sola rally up the troops for their label's largest VA to date - the 'Fresh Music Annual 2022'. Emphasis on the word fresh; the tracklist reads like who's who in new-gen D&B from Shayper to Vektral to Perplex to Nvrsoft to Plasmator and many more in between. Complete with some wise and slightly older sages in the game such as AJ Mutated, Dilligent Fingers, ESKR and K Jah, the album packs a powerful punch and does an excellent job reflecting the whole spectrum of the genre from tear-up dancefloor danger ('Crank It') to cosmic ('Surgical') to emotional and funky ('A Bad Feeling') to classic late 2000s hurricane soul music ('Slow') A beautiful snapshot of a vital scene in the best health right now, big up Grand Theft Audio.

Review: Rising Manny imprint Reincarnate Recordings follow up their crucial Unity anti-racism charity V/A with this high grade growler compendium from young newcomer Replete. Four tracks, four dancefloor attacks, each one laced with drama. 'Bubbles' is all about the power and the hectic harmonies on the soaring bassline while 'Nightmare On Dub Street' and 'Oblivion' are both raw with stripped-back tension and unhurried menace while 'The Aether' closes the EP down with a powerful sense of theatre. Grizzly business, just as we like it.

Review: Reincarnate rise again with another jam-packed bounty of new-gen gems, all to raise money for Show Racism The Red Card and continue to reinforce the message that our scene will not stand for any type of racism. Once again the vibes and energy is high and the vibe is widescreen. Highlights include the bumpy, rubber ball bassline of DJ Direkt's 'Attak', 7Age's vibrant eight-bit, laser-blazing spike-out 'Junkie', Miss Lisa's groaning, trippy 'Hovis' and the minimal menace and wily drums of Pandi's Rapid'. Review: Northern scene legend Adam Wigglesworth sadly passed away on April 3. This is how his friends responded... By compiling one of the biggest tribute albums drum & bass has ever seen. Just look at the amount of talent on here: Pyxis, Euphonique, Nvrsoft, No Concept, Exile, Euphonique, Dawn Raid and so many more artists have contribute to this 45 track album of which all proceeds go to Adam's family. From the blazing bass riff of Sappo's late 90s style neck snapper "Hannibal" to Exile's turbine bass growler "Symbiosis" via Sl8r's jazzy, almost Detroit style vibes on "The Mill" and various bits from Wiggo himself, this is a heartfelt salute from the entire scene to a man who'll be sorely missed.

Review: Sample-based, hip-hop influenced house label Ele returns with a second missive. This time round, there's a quartet of artists at the controls, namely Manchester man Contours, GAMM and Local Talk regular Sameed, and the previously unheard Replete. The latter's "Legislate", a loose, languid, jazz-flecked chunk of sunshine deep house warmth featuring the suave vocals of Bini, is arguably the EP's standout moment - though it is pushed all the way by the crunchy drums, meandering electric piano solos and head-in-the-clouds dustiness of Sameed's "Someone Like U". The breezy, synth-heavy Balearic house breeziness of Contours' "Night Shift" and the drowsy, cut-up house thrust of "Rush", created by a producer who wishes to remain nameless, complete a fine package.

Review: Well, the UK's Shifting Peaks have really gone and done it with this latest leviathan of a compilation, an anthology of their best and most wanted from 2010 until now. Inside, there's talent and plenty of club antics bouncing off the wall left, right and centre; with over fifty cuts there's enough to go around and satisfy a whole artillery of bass-heads. Some of the stand-outs for us are Tessela's "Yes You Can", Hackman's "Always", "Put You Down" by Odessa, and OM Unit's remix of "Reach Out" by Nphonix. What a belter,

Review: Replete's debut, February 2014's Hold Me EP, was one of the year's most overlooked deep house releases. Here the Irish producer returns to the ever-impressive Champion Sound imprint with another two tracks of out-of-the-ordinary deepness. There's a gentle positivity to opener "No Soul (3am Mix)", which expertly combines soulful vocal samples, tactile organ chords, sun-kissed electronics and gentle disco strings. Even more impressive is virtual flipside "Excess", which works wonders with a sparse election of elements, namely a loose, African-influenced groove, heavy analogue-sounding bass, and some occasional pads and melodies. The track's stripped-back nature is its real calling card; it sounds like the kind of heads-down affair that will work wonders at 4am.

Review: The ever-impressive Champion Sound bring a new name into the fold as they present Hold Me, the impressive debut EP from Irish house producer Replete, who brings his own brand of deep, bass heavy house to the label. The title track combines blissful pads and a late '90s atmosphere with bold piano stabs and an emotive vocal, while "Appetite/Life" takes the concept even further with a luminescent synth palette that balances the intricate yet dubby rhythm. "Make Me Want You" takes things deeper still, as a conga-led percussion melts into a reverb-heavy soundscape, while "I Haven't Felt Young In Years" provides a fittingly melancholic mid-tempo closer. Another killer release from the Champion Sound crew.
