The Nexus Of Man To Man
Various
Lake Haze - "Under Sea Scout" - (4:00) 126 BPM
Review: Sub-titled "the fragile connections we make in today's muddy world of clouds, ego harvesting and AI driven augmented-realities", this compilation on TLR's Creme label moves its way through a series of styles and sounds. From the low-tempo beats of Rhythmic Theory's "Sleeper Cell" to the clanging industrial rhythm and spooked acid of R's "Iron Tusk", and Ekman's wild electro funk "Ecophagy Is A Way Of Life", Nexus succeeds in conjuring up a dense, somewhat bleak mood. Even on more dance floor-focused tracks like Simoncino's super deep "Vingas Theme and the new school jack of DB's "XXX" and", there's an otherworldly atmosphere running through the firing snares and steely grooves.

Longevity - (5:38) 128 BPM Hot
Review: After two debut releases for the Ancient Monarchy label, the UK-leaning cousin of Berceuse Heroique, it was about time that Rhythmic Theory branched onto other labels and ventured new horizons. Idle Hands from Bristol is as far as the artist is willing to go for the moment, but it seems like a fitting destination nonetheless. Many 'bass' labels and artists seem to have gone 'ambient' these days, but this particular release by RM is both fresh and interesting. Throughout the seven segments of sound, the artist manages to make sense of the beatless moments, wrapping subsequent tunes with beats into its abstractions. This is a fine piece of futuristic, beat-driven dub for the mind. Check it!

Future Tense
Future Tense (October's Death Is Certain dub) - (8:11) 126 BPM
Review: The adventures of Bristol's premier techno-jungle fusionist continue unabated as Rhythmic Theory returns once more to Idle Hands with a razor sharp vision of pitch black contemporary system sounds. As ever the jungle references are far from obvious, sneaking in through subtle synth tones and overall demeanour rather than anything as obvious as an amen break, and "Future Tense" brings the heat in a most stripped back, malevolent of ways. October follows suit with a sly version that champions the spirit of the original while weaving in a little acidic magic and some additional icy dread for a thoroughly compatible version.

Decadence Of Delay
Endocrine Creatures - (5:55) 129 BPM Hot
Played by: Shadow Dancer
Review: Rhythmic Theory makes his debut for Happy Skull with two of his darkest, otherworldly productions yet. "Decadance of Delay" is an unflinching sprint into techno-jack territory, all distorted machine rhythms, hallucinatory whispered vocals and hypnotic electronics, while "Endocrine Creeatures" is a dystopian blast of 808 electro built around titanium-clad kicks, snappy snares and rippling acid lines.

Legacy Of The Lost - (6:37) 126 BPM
Riveted - (5:56) 126 BPM Hot
Review: Once again Bristol's Idle Hands have come up trumps with another release of locally sourced talent in the form of the third record from the anonymous Rhythmic Theory. The producer debuted last year with Twilight Distinction, a release for the BRSTL imprint that showed the mystery entity to have a knack for creating deep, viscous loop techno in the Skudge mould. Rhythmic Theory's Idle Hands release is something a little different; described by the label as "deeply indebted" to jungle and D&B, "Land Of The Lost" fleshes out its deep techno skeleton with powerfully oscillating low end, while "Riveted" takes a syncopated, shackling rhythm and combines it with cavity-vibrating, jungle-inspired sub-bass.
