Review: Robert Owens is absolutely one of the voices of his generation. He has lent his tender tones to more classic tracks than you could possibly mention and he continues to do so nowadays with a wholeness generation of producer who want a touch go his authenticity. He has recently achieved another career milestone with a superbly poignant new single that comes with sublime remixes. DJ Spinna's re-flip adds his usual sense of soul and Adeen Records label head Camille then brings some South African Amapiano vibes. Nico Lahs takes it on with a heavy house groove and Scott Hess brings some classic acid jack to his version.

Review: Later in the Spring, Fred Everything will release his sixth and arguably finest album to date, 'Love, Care, Kindness & Hope'. You'll have to wait to hear that, but this single - featuring the undisputed 'voice of house', Robert Owens - offers a tantalising glimpse of what's to come. Available in edited and full-length forms, 'Never' features a classically emotive and genuinely inspiring Owens lead vocal atop bubbling acid bass, sumptuous chords, warming horns (arranged and performed by Finn Peters), pulsing electronics and the kind of loose and languid broken-house beats that have long been a feature of his friend Atjazz's work. It's a brilliant song and single all told - something that works as well in the headphones as on club soundsystems.

Review: Following their 2019 collaboration, Jamie Anderson and Robert Owens come together again on Fossil Archive. In its original form, the title track sees Anderson conjure up a deep, rolling techno groove. Underpinned by tough claps and niggling percussion, these elements provide a basis for the house legend's soulful, seductive vocals. It makes for an alluring combination. The release also features a series of remixes, including a peak-time, percussive version from label owner Roberto as RMK. Working under his Fossil Archive guise, Roberto drops a moody electro take and a hypnotic dub version that sees Owens's vocals unfold over tripped out synths and dubbed out claps. Meanwhile, Roberto's main remix as Fossil Archive is a deep, Detroit-style roller that is sure to have maximum impact.
