Review: Planet Rhythm continues its commitment to supporting new artists on this fine split release. Shabaam & Aladarus kick-start the EP with "Colossal", their debut for the label. Led by surging chords and tight percussive bursts, it lives up to its title. Lenny San's "Orbital" follows in a similar vein, albeit with a more intense take, as chords bluster and build over tough kicks and insistent hi hats. OFF / GRID, who has become a regular artist on Planet Rhythm, fuses tight percussion and steely drums with a looped synth on "Inner City Blues". Maintaining this tough but musical theme, Rove Ranger's "Onakum" integrates vocal snatches with hissing hi hats and dubby stabs.

Review: Still truckin' and rock solid as always is Planet Rhythm - a label continuously delivering new releases and consistently holding its position in unearthing emerging talents that are shaping the future of robust, diverse techno. This Risk Management EP serves us four more numbers and kicks off with its man of the hour, klint, with a pumping industrial groove track "Flacon". Linear System teams up with Kimahri on a wet and atmospheric "Vessel" while the title-track of this EP goes to Rove Ranger's dank and tunnelling lead cut - followed by some deep and Detroit inspired "Line Of Sight" by Red Rooms.

Review: Rove Ranger follows 2020's 101010 release on Lobster Theremin with a four-track release that takes influence from dance music's heritage while moving ahead. "CS80" is a pulsating affair that draws on old school organ stabs, while the title track also looks to the past to shape the future. Powered by shimmering synths and featuring a ghostly vocal sample, it makes for an evocative piece of old school sounding techno. In contrast, "La Manana" is a contemporary affair that is based on tough drums and shot through with dense textures and incessant vocals. "Horse On Acid" closes out the release in full on acid mode.

Review: Following from his recent Rave Memories release on Lobster Theremin, Rove Ranger returns to deliver a more visceral follow-up. "1998" starts off with a galloping groove, vivid chords and subtle vocal snippets. On the title track, he strips back any semblance of melody to lay down a pounding, jackhammer rhythm that is redolent of one the Advent's classic techno work. "In My Mind" ushers in a deeper sound, with sun kissed chords applied to a jacking groove, while he revisits the mid-90s for "Schaltkreis". It's a menacing, prowling banger that recalls the trance-techno intensity of vintage Thomas P Heckmann.

Review: Rove Ranger follows up his recent EP for Vision Ekstase with this fine release. A more accurate title might have been "Techno Memories", with this fast-rising new producer drawing on classic styles within the canon for a memorable EP. First up is the high-paced rhythm and cold electronic tones of "If You Say So", where he comes close to emulating Sleeparchive and the Sahko catalogue. By contrast, the title track is an emotive Detroit affair, shrouded in lush synths and robust kicks. "Introspective" is anything but, with Rove Ranger dropping a densely tangled layer of sound effects over a kicking backdrop, while he maintains the eclectic touch right till the end as "You Wanted Both So I Gave You Both" mines a dreamy, emotive sound, replete with vocal samples.
