Review: Last spotted on Serial Killaz way back in 2017, Manchester murker Rowney whips up a near-album sized collection of bumpers and thumpers right here. All loaded with fresh energy and bright, high voltage sounds and samples, he's taking no prisoners. 'Crowd Bounce' and 'Swaggerific' both hit with a ghetto style approach to the vocal line while 'Down Diggy' goes for more of a euphoric vibe before dropping into one of Rowney's weightiest drops in quite some time. Elsewhere 'One Time' is pure laser munching grot, 'Right There' is a hooky bubbler that'll have you humming for days and 'Survival' (with Complex) finishes the EP on wonderfully weird flex. Swaggering all the way to the dancefloor on these!

Review: Defining moments don't come much bigger for artists than debut albums and here's Rowney's first ever LP. At long last.zzzz Shadow Demon member, long-time representer and previous G13 label bossman, here he comes correct with this multi-flavoured 17 track beast that shows his true range and breadth. From the housey riff and squelchiness of the opening track 'So Good' through to the emotional and inspiring finale 'Better Late Than Never', this is the sound of an artist going in on every direction from every angle. Featuring collabs with the likes of Joely, Diligent Fingers, Kezman, Sammie Hall, Trigga and of course his Standard Procedure mates Toddlah and TNT, vibes flex from soulful to savage and switch at a flick of a bassline. Definitive.

Review: Boosting the subs in Sub-liminal each and every time, Agro's label continues to celebrate the big one-oh-oh with another selection from the very forefront of D&B's future. With the dynamite pairing of Shayper and Amplify setting the scene with 'I Got You', we then hurtle down the rabbit hole with the likes of Guzi's gutter-butting sweeper 'Kushty', the spaced-out wobbles of Prestige's 'Never Wrong', the absolute nuttiness of Niterider's 'Catch Feelings' and Rowney's skank-out 'Yard Ting'. And that's just the tip of this third and final 100th release iceberg. Here's to 100 more releases!
Review: The Shadow Demon imprint is notorious for delivering dancefloor dynamite time and time again, with this latest two track delight from Rowney being another perfect example of that. The pleasing vocal sampling and almost electro-inspired melodic plucks of 'So Good' give us a super high energy level right from the off. This is followed by the one and only Trigga getting involved with the 'Dun Dem' VIP mix, kicking off with a real dubwise introduction, leading into a combination of lethal synthesizer action with highly processed drum smashes, providing a super futuristic, distorted view of dancefloor flavour, amplified further of course by Trigga's immediately recognizable vocal pressure.
Review: Coming out with the one-tracker, Rowney has teamed up with one of the hottest vocal acts in the field of heavy dnb right now - MC Trigga. The man is floating after teaming up for huge collabs with the likes of Bou and more, so it's unsurprising that he pulls out a stellar performance on this twisting, grinding slice of jump up dnb. Rowney never messes around and 'Dun Dem' is no different, its bouncing layers of synth offering everything you could ever want from a dancefloor tune. Big up Shadow Demon for the release.

Review: G13 are turning ten years old and, like any good anniversary, it's being celebrated with a proper knees-up, hands-in-the-air type compilation of jump-up heavy hitters from a slew of slightly lesser-known artists. This is the second part of that celebration and, following on from an excellent first instalment, the crew are back with even more. Rowney and Filthy Habits make a return, whilst Smoggy and more make a feature as well. Rowney ropes in MC Haribo for a screamer with 'Devastating', Lyfie takes things heavy on 'Mentality' and Slipz drags proceedings into a bouncier place with 'Drop Tight'. All round, an excellent showing from the G13 crew.

'Addicted To The High' by Filthy Habits demonstrates this approach with ease, a set of pitched up synth lines doing all the work - you just sit back and enjoy the ride. Big album.

Review: G13 co-captain Rowney headbutts 2019 in style with this monster four track new year attack. The name of the EP says it all; obscenely proportioned thumpers, all fine tune and riff primed to cause ultimate chaos and mix switch ups. "Heavy Business" smacks with the same fun and heat of a 2003 G Dub or Twisted tune, "Need To" continues the addictive riff buzz with more of a harmonic tone on the bass and a vaporous female vocal wafting away alluring in the mix and "Everything Bless" is a straight up buzzy roller with a classic 98 style bassline that gradually gets rougher and darker as the track develops. Finally we have "Not Happening". The cheekiest track of the set, armed with a bassline that wouldn't have gone amiss on Bingo around 2005, there's some serious mischief at play here. Don't believe a word Rowney says... It definitely IS happening.

Review: Bou & Dutta's Diamond Audio cuts through the noise with laser like charm on their latest V/A collection. A signature since the label's launch last year, this is their most supersized batch to date as it includes more fresh names and a full spectrum of underground styles; the footwork pace of Aesthetics opener "Questions", Bou's barking groaner "Frequencies", Jeopardize's matchless trippy funk stepper "Contemporary", Leaf's wonky woodblock knocks and freaky funk on "Watch It" and MelloDrama's hospitalizing space stepper "Thrill" are just some of the many album highlights. Shiny shiny.
Review: Let's get cooking... Rowney's back for a bake-off and things are about to get hot. "Hiccups" is a jittering funker with mild use of flutes and two-tone bass textures, "Vibe Selector" adds more punch and swing to the riff with Serum style groove while "Da Wicked Man" rolls with a classic jungle feel. "Gasdup" will be the highlight for many thanks to its Taxman-level burping bass and stern undercurrents of gully funk and the rattling demolition derby style chaos of "Snakez N Fakez" is guaranteed to cause your floor chaos. Grubs up!

Review: Home is where the heat is: G13 rally up troops old and new for a straight up sesh of UK heaviness. Co-boss Rowney takes the lead with the savage "Still On It", setting the scene for the new breed to smash down. Bou, Leaf & Dutta go all jazzy and harmonic on "Waterfall", Niterider gets all low-swung and switchy with "Fire Emoji", Jammin brings the mystic pressure with "Marijuana", Salvage gets classic with the cymbal-crashing, bass-mashing grunter "Don't Stop" while newblood Tringy finishes on the spooked-out wobbler "Poltergeist". Stinking.
Review: They might be averaging 2.5 releases per year but man are Blackley's Cre8 killing it. Every single release has been rammer-jammer with talent, ideas, fusions and energy. The "We Cre8" series epitomises this spirit and attitude the best as we're bombarded with heaviness from the off... "Medusa" teases with a starlit arpeggio on the intro before snapping your neck with a waspy bass drop, "War Mongers" is a much fuzzier, no-nonsense skin-scorcher, "Touch Of Generations" fires more lasers than an unruly robot while Jaxx provides balance with the springier funk of "Leaf Of Life". Rounding off with stern spacious bass tones of "Hemp Seed" and the timeless roller "Showdown", this is the best "We Cre8" edition yet.
Review: A veteran of the Cre8 DnB Radio show, G13 label boss Rowney likes to drop messy dancefloor bombs usually with his pal Toddlah in tow, and here's no different. The original "Wavey" dropped last May, now nearly a year later it's back for the rewind in big VIP sty-lee. If you thought that the first version was fierce, then wait til you hear their own VIP rework - where incisive, mangled bass notes stab over cheeky amen breaks, lairy vocals and there's even a blissed out ravey breakdown too. Bonus cut, "Don't' Say It" keeps the aggy vibes going with skippier beats and pitched basslines. Total mayhem!
Review: Two things of the strongest things that can pull you back down to earth: Gravity or a selection curated Macky Gee. This is both; "Gravity" is Macky's label's first various artist collection and it really is a K.O of a leveller. Spaow gets spiky on the riff and 2001 Space Odyssey on the synths, Rowney & Propz remind us that life can be both screwface and bouncy, Modified Motion & Faction get a little playful with the rave breakbeats and Complex whips up the hardest clanking sounds heard this side of your local steel foundry. Dextone closes the show the string-fired drama that is "Riot". Serious D&B right here, bring on the second volume!
Review: With its 'all-out' weekend message in the lyrics and the epically brutal dual basslines, "Wavey" is proof that neither Rowney nor Toddlah are about to settle down and start living the clean wholesome lifestyle anytime soon. "Real Love" will ease you on the way back down to reality with its soul massaging subs and evocative female vocal textures. Two sides of the night covered with consummate skill.
Review: G13 co-bossman Rowney goes solo for two teeth-snapping stepper jams: "Can't Tell Me" has an almost Knightrider vibe to the bassline while all manner of itchy, scratchy designs and details pepper the spaces in the groove. "Mistaken" goes for a bouncier bass approach where full focus in squared on the dual tones that Q&A against each other against a heavily swung drum arrangement. Ageless jump up with barrels of funk coded deep into every element.

Review: Fresh from the Cre8 DnB Radio Show comes the crew's backbone - Rowney, DJ Blackley, Certified Sickness, Fineprint and Jaxx all make an appearance to bring the cult radio station to a club near you. Filled with the upfront sounds you'd expect with the creative twists you might not, each producer adds a touch of the unexpected, making this a release you don't want to miss. Highlights include the hyped jump-up of "Not This Time" to the strange, kung-fu film inspired mania of "Get To The Point". There's "Reactor Faliure"'s techy build-up to Fineprint's brutal "Chop Off your Arm" and finally the downright filthy final track "Twisted Tones". After this you'll be a Cre8 convert.

Review: Rowney, of Cre8 DnB Radio crew fame, has reached the ears of Hype and he likes what he's heard. We don't blame him. "Final Call" is a pure bred upfront instant classic, chock full of pent-up energy and aggression. Moving into cheekier territory, "Wind Up" uses perky melodies to lift up a hard stepping attitude and dancefloor-destroying breakdowns. If this man isn't on your list as one to watch this year, get him added immediately.

Review: Grimey Mancunian filth from Rowney and Hedex offers massive jump-up stylings pared-back into a dark, claustrophobic stepper in "Plots Plans", featuring razor sharp vocals from long-time collaborator Swifta. On the flip, "Disruptive" offers more of that dark, dangerous sound, with the producers choosing to take things down even further, revealing the skeletons of a D&B dancefloor smasher, pushing paranoia and hard stepping beats into the forefront - there's no time to mess with melodies here. Expected to be tearing up dancefloors in all the right places from now until the impending apocalypse. Get to know.
