Review: Eaux has once again delivered a sonic gem with the release of Dermatology, a collaborative mini-album by label boss Rrose and Polygonia. This six-track collection showcases the duo's mastery of hypnotic techno and experimental composition. The album's journey begins with Stretcher, a heavy-hitting track that sets the tone for the entire release. Its industrial beats and mechanical precision draw the listener into a relentless sonic landscape. Inhaler follows, infusing sinister, alien sounds with a broken beat, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. Haima introduces a dubby, tribal element, grounding the album with earthy rhythms and intricate textures. One of Juno Download favourite is the closing track, "Vena Cava." This sci-fi ambient masterpiece transports the listener to a futuristic soundscape, providing a fitting conclusion to the album's powerful journey. This heavyweight pairing of producers has created a selection of tracks that are sure to leave a lasting impression on fans of the genre.

Review: Over the course of numerous albums and Eps, Laurel Halo has made a name with her experimental, uncompromising take on electronic music - can she do the same with her DJing? Listening to this, the 68th instalment of DJ-Kicks, the answer is a resounding 'yes'. It moves from the abstract chimes of her own "Public Art" to the bruising rhythms of Stallone the Reducer and Red Axes' low-slung electro into the next-wave Detroit techno of Fit Siegel and the bleary European sound of Dario Zenker, representing here with "Koraimer Bro". However, Halo is also aware that to understand where electronic music is going to, you must first understand its past - and the inclusion of tracks from Jeff Mills' Final Cut band and Blake Baxter's catalogue showcases her deep knowledge and passion.

Review: It's time to dive deep into the realms of experimental tech on this one as we are introduced to this hard hitting four track compilation from the K7 imprint, showcasing 4x4 creativity at its very finest. We kick off with Laurel Halo's fabulous 'Sweetie', a moody rolling tech adventure, packed with percussive melodics. Next, Ikonika returns with her OG mix of 'Bodied' which plays off both grimey and techno themes, followed by the hypnotic synthesizer ramblings of 'Cricoid' from Rrose. Finally, it gets very tribal indeed as Nick Leon ventures forth with the Amazonian rhythms and rhythmic twists of 'Pelican Dub'.

Review: The second split release on Paula Temple's new label is again shaped by its unusual, experimental approach. The four producers involved -the Noise Manifesto boss herself - Sos Gunver Ryberg, Aisha Devi and former Sandwell District operative Rrose, have created an individual track collated from a pool of their samples. Each production, four in total, is credited to all four artists. "DR2-1" starts the release and is led by hammering broken beats, bursts of white noise and ghoulish shrieks. Not much changes on "DR2-2", except that the rhythm is more buckled - the same ghostly sound scapes filter up to the top, like mist rising over a lake. "DR2-3" is a linear affair, following a layered, hypnotic approach that focuses squarely on the dance floor. Finishing off this second installment is the expansive "DR2-4", where a fragile vocal unfolds over punishing break beats - like Lamb jamming with Demdike Stare.

Review: Having contributed to a recent Infrastructure compilation, Rrose moves to consolidate the relationship with Function's label with the release of a full EP. Arc has more in common with the producer's techno work for Sandwell District than last year's conceptual outing on Further, but this release still resounds to a deeply experimental approach. "Specimen 2" unites minimal, tonal sounds with an abstract rhythm. On "Specimen 3" a similar concept prevails, as Rob Hood-influenced, microscopic stabs cozy up to pitter-patter beats. Even the dance floor-friendly title track, with its bass-heavy pulse and doubled-up claps, has an atonal, abstract backdrop.

Review: According to Infrastructure NYC head Function, this compilation was compiled like an album and involves not only the core group of artists but also connects the dots between the label's past, his Berghain 07 mix CD for Ostgut Ton, the legendary Sandwell District days and the respective history of the artists. Infrastructure Facticity spans "a narrative ranging from lush, ambient electronics and post-club diversions, to contemporary club techno and back again." British artist Robert McNally provides the artwork and musically the highlights are not so much the dancefloor ready bangers, which are mainly quite good, rather the moments of restraint such as Vatican Shadow's brooding and almost Boards Of Canada sounding "Swords Over Paradise", the slow burning reduced acid of Cassegrain & Tin Man's "Open Sea" and Rrose's finest moment yet, "Cephalon", which can barely be described in words!

Review: Like everything Rrose does, there is a strong concept and deep thought process behind Note. An original composition by 70s minimalist James Tenney, the Eaux boss delivers two new interpretations here. One of them was recorded at Dupont Underground, apparently a place for disused trolleys and you can hear random metallic sounds bashing and crashing away in the background as layers of droning noise hum gently to a finale. There is also a studio version, which involves more defined instruments and elements; cymbals crash and death pace drums underscore Rrose's washes of grey, blurry sound scapes. Further deserves kudos for putting out such a thought-provoking release.
