Review: Released in December 2020, Buddy System was not only Sabo's second artist album, but also his first to be made up entirely of collaborations with other artists. Here, the album has been given the remix treatment in its entirety. The results are largely impressive, with the assembled remixers managing to retain elements of the collaborative originals while putting their own spin on things. Our picks include DJ Chus's typically dark, atmospheric tribal house tweak of the wonderfully intoxicating 'Bakhu' (with DJ Oasis), the tech-tinged Arabic house wonder that is the Derun remix of Under hook-up 'Duende', Guy Mayan's squelchy, spaced-out and ultra-deep take on 'Min Q' (with Saint Flip), and Nutia's woozy, pitched-down and pleasingly rubbery revision of 'Fain' (co-produced by SidiRum).

Review: Sol Selectas' first Global Entry compilation, which hit stores earlier in 2021, was a fine collection of deep, dreamy and otherworldly music with a distinctly psychedelic slant. This follow-up is similarly mind-altering in tone, initially flitting between stripped-back throb-jobs (Sabo's 'Togi Trip' and Timboletti's decidedly druggy - if cowbell-sporting - 'About Frogs and Birds'), creepy nu-disco chug (Be Svendson), feverish world music/deep house fusion (Hot Oasis), languid deep house warmth (Paax). As the collection progresses, the beats get marginally bolder and the basslines weightier, with further nods towards hypnotic tech-house, trance-inducing late-90s ambient techno workouts and percussion-laden dancefloor tropicana.

Find this alongside epic basslines in Yamil's "Hedia", Ayala's jazz-tipped "Spectre" to the slower-motion and chugging beats of "Vimana (feat Helia Jamali)". This couldn't be embodied any more than on the celestial and esoteric groove of "Tiniri" by label boss Sabo and Amine K. This is sure to get some dancefloor drama happening - perfect for when the smoke machine and strobe lights come on. Hamburg hero Matthias Meyer steps up for remix duties and delivers a driving yet restrained perspective with added dancefloor dynamic - and working those hypnotic elements of the track superbly. If you're seeking more flavour, tune in to the deep dive into the exotic that is "Amanar" with its splendid sitar tones and rich tabla percussion workout.

Label boss Sabo released his album entitled 'Vibe Quest' back in 2016 and it now makes a return in the form of this remix package: which is rather impressive and worthy of your attention. Highlights on here include German tech house hero Acid Pauli's Singing Sequencer remix of "Singing Game" which is a woozy mid-noughties style minimal groove that's suited perfectly for the after hours. Multi Culti boss man Thomas Von Party's esoteric acid remix of "Drop That" is perfect for the raindance! Elsewhere, Los Angeles power duo Nadastrom return with a brooding remix of the title track and the legendary Alexi Delano makes a surprising appearance: the Swedish NYC transplant provides a hypnotic techno rework of "Force 4 Movement" while another legend in the form of Miami's Oscar G (who teams up with Lazaro Casanova) with a jacking remix of "Afro Fuego"

Review: The 50th release on Sol Selectas comes from the label founder himself: Sabo. The LP features the musical talents of a mother and son: as represented by the title Earth & Sun. Twenty year old Elijah Sage plays the ancient Ravanhatta string instrument on the opening track "Young Wisdom" while his mother Nikila Badua provides the vocals. Nicola Cruz from Ecuador; who is fresh off some great releases including an album on Multi Culti, delivers a stellar remix of "Obatala" taking us high into the Andes Mountains. German duo Blond:ish transform "Young Wisdom" into a psychedelic tech house trip, while Paris' Birds of Mind take you on a voyage into the deep with their ethereal reinterpretation of "Young Wisdom".

Review: Los Angeles transplant from NYC DJ Sabo serves up a great long player courtesy of his own respected Sol Selectas imprint entitled Vibe Quest. Leap deep into the exotic across the album's dozen or so tracks. As he describes himself, the album is "a sonic landscape that crosses several musical borders with mixtures of tropical poly-rhythms, warm bass frequencies, rich percussion." Sounds good already right? Our favourites were the dark and woozy Afro house of "Coconut Mantras", the sexy dancefloor drama of tech house slow burner "Sure & Pure", "Fantastico" which is definitely the most high octane offering and we must certainly mention the two bass heavy explorations of latin exotica performed alongside Nadastrom & Melo such as "Hang On" and "Timbiqui Hasta DC".
