Review: As a label, Crucast have gone from strength to strength, rapidly establishing themselves as one of the premiere platforms for bass music in the UK. This complication marks that out perfectly with an astonishing selection of over 30 original creations, featuring high profile appearances from the likes of Jaguar Skills, Brent Kilner, Pavv, TC4, Inkline, Deadbeat UK and a tonne more. For us the EP highlights the strength in the current UK bass scene, with favourites being Bushbaby & Hadean's long-awaited collaboration release 'Clean Up', the monstrous swinging synths of Tengu's 'Weapon' and of course the wonky wonderings of SaidWho's 'Voices', a truly original compositional idea, focussing on rawcus bass sounds and scattered drum selections.

Review: We were thrilled to see this masterpiece appear on our shelves as the infamous Southpoint movement unveil a sack of gems from SaidWho with his brand new 'Saigon' LP. Taking a 10/10 in Mixmag, SaidWho hones is more emotive side into 8 very special, eastern inspired originals. We are blessed with smooth, luscious future garage designs in 'I Need Love', 'Monsoon' and more. For us, the title track 'Saigon' deserves massive plaudits for its incredible harmonic structure, along with Danny Jaqq's powerful vocal appearance across 'Drowning'. Excellent work from SaidWho and the Southpoint Team

Noise Complaint - (6:26) 135 BPM Hot
Warpaint - (6:04) 67 BPM
Night Cap - (6:56) 135 BPM
Review: Bristol's SaidWho is back on 877 Records with more of his dark and bass heavy productions. Following his last release with them, he has been a busy man, firing off releases with the likes of Southpoint and also maintaining his other alias: James Mannion. This EP showcases the darker and weirder side of underground music. Tectonic style darkside futurism on the title track, while "Warpaint" gets some seriously funky riddims happening in classic Ramadanman style until "Night Cap" gets proper street sound with its grimy, wonky basslines in full effect.

Review: Marcus nasty: The man, the myth, the legend. A pivotal figure behind the emergence of Grime and UK Funky sounds, there is no one better placed to compile and present a comprehensive collection of the latest evolutions of the House & Garage sound. Curiously enough, the package drops on Dallas imprint Audiophile XXL, as Americas biggest dance music Europhiles the Texans constantly have their ear to the ground and are no strangers to good old fashioned British basslines!
Superabound with dance floor ammunition and A-list names, it is an all killer no filler collection. Wittyboy & Tengu hook up on "Bioshock" with a bassline so harsh it will leave you with a sore throat. LR Groove drifts into more traditional tech-house territory on epic track "The Journey". Brent Kilner rattles he ribcage with a 2017 take on the Sheffield Niche nightclub sound. There are too many standout tracks to mention and in all honesty we have a lot of music to focus on but we would seriously rinse this day and night for the next fortnight if we could.

Review: For all those of you out there who had lost faith in ever hearing another instalment in the Saucy Selections series...rejoice! The wait is over. It's over a year since Vol 2, but the Saucy crew are back bringing serious fiyah over 22 fresh new jams. As usual, the quality is never compromised, particularly on such standouts as the mercilessly pounding, RnB sampling "You Better Know" by Libra, the futuristic 2-step synth stabs of "Eyes On You" by Jello and the dry warehouse beats and buzzy bass bounce of "People Dem Dance" by Lucent & Karl Vincent.

Play It - (4:54) 65 BPM
Review: 877 Records come from the same school of thought as labels like Swamp81, Hessle Audio, or even Hotflush Recordings, but the imprint has always managed to keep at a safe distance from all the hype and nonsense surrounding the 'bass' world. This time they've got newcomer Saidwho to throw down some knowledge in the form of three heavy-as-hell cuts that sit somewhere between house, techno and pure bass-weight. "Overkill", "We Are One", and "Play it" are all shining examples that formulas are overrated, and that one doesn't have to follow any rules to come up with powerful, hard-hitting dance music with a UK test. Luckily, 877 know how to pick up this sort of talent. Tip!
