Review: Stepping onto the dance floor with confidence, the collaborative effort between techno veteran Sakro and Chicago's Max Jacobson, "Walking Into Mirrors EP," delivers a potent dose of driving rhythms and hypnotic soundscapes on Rawax. The title track opens the EP, establishing a deep, pulsating groove that locks you in from the start. Layers of synths unfold with a touch of mystery, building tension and anticipation throughout its near seven-minute runtime. This is a track built for late-night warehouses, expertly crafted for maximum impact on sound systems. "Planet Arium" takes a slightly different path, offering a more stripped-down, almost industrial feel. The rhythmic core remains relentless, but the focus here shifts to a hypnotic melody that snakes its way through the soundscape. It's a darker, more atmospheric journey, perfect for heads-down dancing. The EP closes with "Chapter 16 Remember To Go Home," a track that injects a touch of hopeful euphoria into the mix. Soaring synths and a more playful melody offer a sense of light at the end of the tunnel, a reminder of the joy of dance music even after a deep dive into techno's darker corners.

Review: Young Mexican producer Sakro (also sometimes known as SKR) comes to Detroit label Visionquest with an EP that packs four forward-thinking deep house groovers. 'Lusyd' is a percussive, minimal-leaning affair with a cheeky walking bassine and meandering pads, 'Jazz On Mars' marries a phat bottom-end to sci-fi synth bleeps, 'Voices' is another minimalist cut with twitchy, toppy drums, spoken vocal snips and New Jersey-ish organ chords, while finally 'Supersymmetry' is a deeper variant on a very similar theme. With all four cuts rolling along at 128bpm - positively pacey by current standards - 4am eyes-wide-shut dancefloor bliss awaits!

Review: Sakro has been delivering grade A minimal pumpers for some time now, appearing on labels as respected as Visionquest, Raum...musik, Karlovak and Pleasure Zone, and now he's landing on venerable London institution Half Baked with another salvo of upfront party delights. "Whispered Story" is infectious, funky and precision engineered for peak time action, while "Millions Of Stars" strips things back to a more mystical house shimmer adorned with gorgeous sweeps of pads. "Echoes" nudges things into woozy after hours territory with pitch-wobbling tones and a steady shuffling beat that will serve the minimal house crowd very well indeed.

Review: French label Politics Of Dancing are back celebrating three years in the business (already!) with great releases by the likes of Lopaski, Carlos Sanchez and Two Diggers of Robsoul fame. There's a great cast on here to celebrate, with legends new school and old alike. Franck Roger's soulful, deep and uplifting "Night To Live", Berlin young gun Nick Beringer's deep swing on "Juicy Lucy", London underground hero James Barnsley's "Play The Game" and Senzala's "Spiral" too: which channels the early noughties tech house vibe of local legends D'julz or David Duriez. And there are many more highlights where they came from. Congrats!

Review: Not the most positive affirmation you want to hear from a young artist but let's not let the winter blues get the best of us; the good news is that this EP rocks! Mexican producer Edgardo Alonso Garcia aka Sakro gives us four tracks of surefire slinky tech house for the peak time. The original mix of "Everybody Dies Young" is deepest darkest minimal house for invitation only afterhours parties; one for the freaks! The LYE remix of it is more uplifting and adrenalised with a shuffling groove and rolling bass that fans of Gruuv or Saved will appreciate. More original tracks appear in the form of "Genesis" a tough and rolling house jam full of garage style swing and "Mood Swinger" which follows in suit going for the more NYC style of groove on this thumping deep house jam reminiscent of Mr. V or Karizma.
