First and foremost, Dopestep is a great name for a label. This single-track salvo is actually the imprint's second release, but it's arguably the first with a chance to really put the label on the map. You see, "Coming On Strong" really is something of a balls-out banger - a formidable low-end stomper that blends numerous bass music favourites - squeaky, cut-up vocal samples, wobble bass, dubstep and D&B rhythms - into one gargantuan whole. It's not subtle in any way - bar, perhaps, the lightness of touch needed in blending these elements tastefully - but it rocks hard. Dancefloors will love it.
Dope Ammo teams up with Sam X for the next release to come from the Dope Ammo label. Ringing the changes and deviating from their usual rambunctious strain of jump up D&B, it's taking a trip over to the slower tempo side of town here in "Coming On Strong". Strong, powerful beats with smacking snares dominate with a distorted, pitched up vocal snippet echoing within the fabric of the tune. Swirling synths and grouchy, low slung bass make this a winner on the dancefloor.
