PZP - "Undergrowth" - (4:32) 130 BPM
Tyrant - "Piffment" - (6:00) 130 BPM
Review: The one they called Lockt has done it again with another impeccable compiled genre compilation for the 1Forty imprint as they welcome seven top quality names across four bubbling originals within the fifth edition of the Funky & Garage compilation series. First up, garage heavyweights Sammy Virji & Smokey Bubblin' B combine for 'Santorini', a smooth bubbler, perfect for the BBQ season, followed by the incredibly catchy 'Clouds', which sees Lyrical Strally and Dakota Sixx link up with Higgo for another UKG roller. We then take a dive into the funky side of the EP as PZP firstly unveils a nostalgic bop with 'Undergrowth', combining urgent strings with highly energetic drum lines, before Tyrant calls an end to proceedings with the sweeping vocal lines and marching percussion of 'Piffment'. Lovely work!

Conducta & NOTION - "Fez Mangal" - (3:58) 130 BPM
Conducta & Sammy Virji - "Whippet" - (4:18) 130 BPM Hot
Review: Well what a treat we have for you all here as we see Conducta, Notion and Sammy Virji, three of the biggest names in UK bass music, come together for a super exciting two tracker on Conducta's own Kiwi imprint. We start with a look at Conducta and Notion teaming up on 'Fez Mangal', a smoothly rolling garage original, dripping with sauce as luscious vocal lines and distant key melodies play out in sun-fueled thrill ride. On the flip, we see another super high profile collaboration as fan-favourite Sammy Virji gets in on the act on the flutey tones and groovy drum designs of 'Whippet'. Both tracks hold a serious contrast, yet balance each other out perfectly.

Review: The re-emergence of UKG continues to gain momentum as we bare witness to yet another fantastic selection here, this time arranged by Rare Supply and bearing the title 'Supply Drop, Vol. 1'. We kick off with a smooth and soulful collaboration between Higgo and Kyst Cortez entitled 'Same Way', followed by some super melodic explorations from man of the moment: Sammy Virji in 'Promise Me'. Next, we hear cracking originals from Dr. Oscillator with his wobbly roller 'Amnesia', Joedan with his nostalgic creation in 'That's Hot' and the return of the ever dependable Moony with the funky inspired rhythmic switches on 'Attica'. Mr Dubz - "Losing It" (Dubzta remix) - (3:37) 140 BPM
Review: As one of the grime and bass scene's standout label projects over the last 5 years, Project Allout have conquered much, constantly alternating between grime, dubstep, bass and garage, all with a real touch of finesse. This latest compilation sees the gang assemble in force as the likes of Sammy Virji, Killjoy, Palize, Deadbeat UK, Daze Prism and more heavyweight names bring their heat to the table. For us the standout tracks have to be Dunman's grimey roller in 'Chip On The Block' and of course Moony's amazonian funky ride out on 'M', a subby mover, designed to take the dance real low.

Sammy Virji - "Punctuation" - (4:03) 135 BPM Hot
Arridim - "Pirate Radio" - (3:26) 130 BPM
Spectrum - "Your Body" - (4:03) 128 BPM
Odd Nature - "Battle" - (5:43) 130 BPM
Review: As a movement, 1Forty has been seriously impressive since it's conception, consistently putting together impactful releases across both grime and bass. This four track compilation comes as their second in the bass criteria, featuring some serious stormers. We kick off with Sammy Virji's prized wobbler 'Punctuation' before dipping into the lethal growling reeses of Arridim's 'Pirate Radio'. Following this we roll into 'Your Booty', a skippy stuttered dancefloor mauler from Spectrum before rounding off the EP in style as Odd Nature steps forward for 'Battle', a real 4x4 speaker rattler.

AudioGutter - "Yakisoba" - (5:10) 140 BPM
Judge Chucky - "Customer Service" - (4:02) 144 BPM
Review: The Sheff City boys are back with 12 high calorie teatime treats all smothered in basslines that are thicker than chippy gravy! If Chip Shop vol 1 announced Chip Butty Recs as the new leading light of the 4x4 Garage sound, then volume 2 suggests that they plan to keep the heat on high at the fryery. Founding members deliver the on-point bangers that we have come to expect from them but it is the newcomers that bring the real sizzlers here; Rico Tibbs ascends to the skies with uplifting rave pianos on "Warning" Judge Chucky draws for the distortion on breakbeat-techno-bass hybrid "Customer Service". While Rolls Royce opts for an old school flex that we would love to see revived this summer festival season. Not a single dud spud in the batch!

Dr Cryptic - "Wobbly Sausage" - (3:47) 135 BPM
Dr Cryptic - "Clown Hunter" - (3:57) 132 BPM
Review: There's all kinds of posh nosh in the world but sometimes nothing hits that spot like a good old chip butty. The label of same name serve up similar musical carbo concoctions all the time. Here though they enter the arena of Chips N Gravy (well, the musical equivalent). As a six-track split EP with three tracks each, the best of Sammy Virji's offerings include the sheer jump up hedonism of "Do Me A Favour" and the skippy 4x 4 mayhem of "Oh My". Dr Cryptic's highlights include the diva house influenced chaos of "Bubbles" and the compressed fizzy madness of "Clown Hunter".
