Review: Dundee's finest Samoyed scored one of the winter's sleeper albums in the shape of Saturday, issued through his own label Flask. In a surprising, but none the less welcome, move Samoyed has elected to return to his debut album, Always From This Point, for an expanded 2016 edition. Given it was originally issued in the CDr format in very limited quantities back in 2008, this is very good news indeed. Now thirteen tracks deep, the album explores all facets of ambient and drone, touching down half-way at a dosage of noise. The thing is, though, Samoyed doesn't just make ambient music for the sake if it; this gear is full of life and follows a clear motion. Even when the music is stripped-down and torn down to its very essentials, Samoyed still manages to evoke enough energy and charisma to make the music come to life.
