Review: For some of the more surreal, free and improvisation electro-acoustic jazz kicking about these days check out Claudio Puntin, Samuel Rohrer and Max Loderbauer's Ambiq LP. That 11-track album fused interstellar themes associable with the music of Sun Ra with left of field sounds you'd expect to hear on a label like Type. Arjunamusic founder Samuel Rohrer has suitably commissioned remixes by minimal legend Ricardo Villalobos and Ostgut Ton pillar Tobias, and both provide distinctly different and, to say the least, fascinating results. Villalobos's scatter-junk remix of "Tund" is enough to make you feel as though you're stuck in a tiny crawl space of dirt, driftwood and broken wind chimes, while Tobias's trademark techno percussion lightly rests below the humming bassline, cinematic atmospheres and shuffling field recordings of "Toxic Underground". House and techno and its most avant garde.

Review: Previously, Ricardo Villalobos and Max Loderbauer have delivered some deliciously epic remixes that sound more like freestyle electronic jazz epics than stripped-back minimal techno chuggers. It's perhaps fitting, then, that they've been given a chance to rework two tracks from Swedish jazz drummer-turned-electronic experimentalist Samuel Ruhrer's recent album, Range of Regularity. Together the Berlin-based duo tackles "Uncertain Grace", creating a mind-altering concoction rich in frazzled electronic pulses, chiming melodies, delay-laden drum hits and deep-sea textures. Villalobos goes solo on the flip to lay down a typically intoxicating, off kilter, acid-flecked minimal techno interpretation of "Lenina". The Chilean keeps things fresh by incorporating fluttering flute passages and broken electronics.

Review: Swiss jazz drummer Samuel Rohrer gets his work interpreted in a radically different manner by some of electronic music's most daring artists. First up is Burnt Friedmann, who turns "Microcosmoism" into a lithe, stepping groove, its rumbling drums supporting insistent stabs, reverberating cymbal crashes and a murky bass. Ricardo Villalobos has remixed the same track; while the minimal producer's take also has an irresistibly lopsided feeling, its punchy drums and series of off-beat tones and sonic squiggles will undoubtedly appeal to his fans. The Chilean-German has also collaborated with Max Loderbauer under their Vilod alias to turn "Uncertain Grace" into a scuffled, teased out track.
