Review: The label's suffered a little from Man Utd Syndrome over the years but for me, you just can't fault a Toolroom comp: they always offer great VFM, and as quick bi-annual (or whatever) snapshots of 'where house is at right now', they're unbeatable. The headline for this installment is that, where the Toolroom story over the past few years has mostly been about label boss Mark Knight getting back in touch with his soulful roots, this set leans a little more to the tuff n' techy side. But with 50 full-length tracks to choose from, plus two hour-long DJ mixes - and with that M1 drop on Azete's 'Born Bad' worth the price of admission on its own! - you really can't go wrong here.

Review: Following the release of Sante and Re.You's Road To Sanrey earlier this year, LSF21+ now delivers an impressive collection of remixes. Steve Weston's take on "Cave" is a swirling, deep techno affair and Frieder Nagel's take on the same track revolves around a stripped back, lo-fi rhythm. In stark contrast is Sante's buzzing acid take on the duo's "Delirium". Meanwhile, at the other end of the spectrum, Re.You's own version of "Into the Sun" sees the label co-owner deliver a brooding, tranced out workout, and Ae:ther's reshape of "Road To Nowhere" is a similarly evocative track, led by ponderous pianos and harmonious vocals.

As a result, this 15-track offering is packed to the rafters with vibrant and purposeful peak-time treats, including a string of cuts from high-profile artists such as CamelPhat and Hot Since 82. The latter's organ-heavy, '90s garage-influenced hook-up with Big Miz, 'Rules (Big Miz Mix)' is a highlight, as is the extra-percussive, 21st century tribal house flex of Yousef & CamelPhat's 'April' and the deep house dreaminess of Simon Doty's 'The Beacon'. Review: Next up on Knee Deep In Sound is Avotre chief Sante, who since 2009 has been responsible for a prolific output, and was at one point executive producer for the fellow Berliner's Tiefschwarz. He's back in full swing here with three hot tracks that are all guaranteed to set the dancefloor alight. From rolling and low slung groove of "Always" which is perfect to set the mood during the warm-up set, the steely peak time techno banger "Make Me Feel" is quite unlike anything we have heard from Philip Maier and also features a roaring diva vocal (like the title track), before closing it out with the slinky and hypnotic dub techno journey of "RawHyte".
