Review: Given the veteran status of both Roy Davis Jr and Sean Smith, its perhaps unsurprising that The Revival EP pays tribute to the halcyon days of house. The title track boasts a spoken vocal to the effect, alongside swirling pads, chords and the sort of tactile groove that evokes memories of early 2000s US deep house. There's more shameless old skool flavour to be found on Smith's own "Bumpin' Enjoyment", a devilishly simple but wonderfully effective house bumper built around the bassline from a well-known Philly Soul classic. Elsewhere, check the cosmic synth bass and atmospheric chords of "Alkebulan", and the heavy military snares of "Evolution (Instrumental)".
