Review: Apparel Music's latest compilation series, Coffee Club, has been designed to showcase "laidback vibes and soulful grooves" of the sort that can provide the perfect accompaniment to supping on a latte, long black or double espresso. The six tracks on show on volume one undoubtedly hit this brief, with highlights including the sinewy, ultra-deep, sunrise house wooziness of Apparel Wax's '0091A', the vibraphone-laden, early St Germain-esque wonder of 'Soul Haze' by Sek, the jazzy and dubby lusciousness of Sune's 'En Saga', and Girls of the Internet's deep, dusty and chunky remix of 'Everytime' by Jason Heresco, where vintage female vocal snippets, tactile electric piano chords and a jazzy bassline all catch the ear.

Review: As Sebas Ramis' Sub_Urban Music label gets set to celebrate a decade in deep house, the label's compilation series reaches its eighth 'chapter'. Given the significance of the anniversary, you'd expect the label's latest trawl through its' archive of released and unreleased music to be extra special, and it most certainly is. Rich in rolling, deep, groovy, heart-warming and sun-kissed house sounds, 'Chapter 8' is packed to the rafters with high-grade, club-ready treats. Our picks of a very strong bunch include JT Donaldson's tactile and evocative remix of Ramis's 'High Hopes' (as well as the same remixer's wonderful rework of Dirtytwo's 'Hopeless'), Folamour's deliciously dusty revision of Guri's 'Everything I Do', the rubbery, glassy-eyed loveliness of Sebb Junior's 'Need a Break', and the bouncy brilliance that is 'Endless Luminosity' by Scott Diaz.

Review: Last year, Greek producer Sek returned to legendary U.S deep house label Large Music after a five-year absence. Here he delivers a swift follow-up boasting three classic-sounding cuts. First up is the organ-sporting New Jersey garage-meets-Chez Damier goodness of "The Realm", where sampled party chatter and righteous spoken word vocals help create a hazy, glassy-eyed mood. "The Nerd Comeback" sees him amble amiably towards mid-tempo disco-house territory - all filtered disco strings, chunky bass and bumpin' beats - while "Heater Gonna Heat" offers a jauntier and breezier riff on the same basic blueprint. It's got a similar vibe to DJ Koze's "Pick Up" and Tom Trago's "Use Me (Again)", though it's arguably a little deeper and groovier than both of those colossal dancefloor hits.

The label's very own Mousse T. starts the journey with a fresh exclusive, featuring the inimitable Peven Everett on the sensual jam "Pleasure" and even a remix of his anthem "Horny" from '96 by Scott Diaz. Elsewhere, there's also a rework of the classic "Never Enough" by Hamburg legend Boris Dlugosch, plus future classics by newbies like Studioheist on their deep and soulful "In Control" featuring the smooth as silk vocals of Andre Espeut. Also, Raw Instinct get their hot track "De La Bass" reworked by Montreal hero Fred Everything. Review: Beard-sporting Greek deep houser SEK pops up on the always-reliable Lost My Dog, with a four-track assault that ticks many boxes. Lead cut "These Days" leads the way, offering a murky deep houser that achieves just the right balance between low-slung bassline pressure, pleasant deepness and late night jack. "West Coast Ride" ups the percussive pressure, flitting between chopped-up pianos, familiar hip-hop samples and woozy chords, while "Tears & Sweat" is a much jauntier trip into '90s house territory. "The Light", meanwhile, fuses calming pads and chords with skippy, garage-influenced drums and mutant bassline pressure.
