Review: Sometimes in life, what we need is a little bit of energy injected into our day to day, which is exactly why Chip Butty have lasted so long at the top of the UK bassline game. This latest selection from Sekt-87 is yet another fantastically fun delving into the grizzly realms of 4x4 music, with 'Gunshot' providing us with a gnarly warbling synthesizer lead to kick us off in style. From here we find ourselves exploring the realms of a more post-niche sound, with 'Gremlins' combining a more classic style of sound design with up to date rhythmic layering, alongside 'Within You', a monstrous bass racket, pushed forward by it's intrusive LFO lead, adding that extra touch of oomph as this one rounds to a close.

Review: Now despite In:flux being on a bit of a dubstep craze as of late, we are very excited to see them unveil a brand new bass episode, courtesy of the unpredictable Sekt-87, who mashes up three sparkling original creations for us all to enjoy. The extended euphoric harmonics and angelic vocal layers of 'Resistance' kicks us off with a bit of a bang, followed by the super-phasy lead synthesizer slaps of 'Grunt' and high energy drum rhythms and pulsating bass growls of 'Symphony'. On remix duty, Teotek provides us with a stunning electronic rebuild of 'Grunt', followed by Inner Realm's more garage influence overhaul.

Review: Following on from another string of exciting releases, we are thrilled to see the return of In:Flux Audio, and the fifth edition of their extremely popular compilation series 'Get Fluxed'. The line up for the selection is potent to say the least, seeing high profile returns for the likes of J69, Nekst, Fiyahman, Swedger and more, along with the introduction of some eyebrow raising newcomers! For us the highlights on this one simply have to include the dancefloor destroying old school UKG flavours of 'The Massive Crew' from Sekt-87, along with Teotek's neurotic thrillride in 'Tunnel Driver'.

Review: After a pretty solid year of releases despite having a dramatic scheduling overhaul, Project Allout return here alongside Sekt-87 for three tracks of pure weight to help see out the year strong. To begin this EP, we take a look at the euphoric introduction and uber shelly melodic breakdown of the title track 'Bug Eyes', which features additional work from Gater. Next up, fold over into the classic niche LFOs and skippy drum designs of 'Badman Sound', before rounding off the EP with a high energy dose of reesey bassline goodness in 'String Symphony', which adopts some real nostalgic UKG flavours to say the least.

Review: After a successful run of releases on a multitude of high profile labels, UKG and bass maverick Sekt-87 gets involved with the infamous Hot Cakes Bass collective for a three track garage wash out. We begin with the title track 'Body Action', a groovy UKG roller, filled to the brim with quirky riffs and interesting percussive appearances, designed to make any dance shake a leg. We are also gifted two more gems as the EP progresses, the first of which is a twisted bassline bonanza in 'Roller'. We finish off with the carnival inspired grooves and niche LFO movements of 'Viber', a perfect way to polish off a great body of work!

Review: As far as consistency in the UK bass scene goes, there aren't many who have been setting high levels for as long and as often as In:Flux Audio, who have carved out their niche UKG style with real finesse over the last few years. This EP see's Sekt-87 step up with three absolute beauties. We kick off with the title track 'Soundboy' which is a real classic UKG roller, complete with crunchy bass patterns and rolling 4x4 drums. The same can be said of 'Bells Of Time' before we move into the speed garage influenced piano riffs and subtle percussive movements of 'Piano Theme'.On remix duty, Tik&Borrow step forward for a dubstep-driven rethink of 'Soundboy' which works perfectly to seal the EP up.

Review: LW Recordings have thrown a serious party on their latest 'Sublime Bass' compilation, collecting together some of the most sought after names in the bass scene for a 25 track tearout. This tenth edition of the release serious sees the likes of X5 Dubs, Sample Junkie, Tengu, Killjoy, Priceless and a tonne of other highly talented producers come together for a real multigenre showcase. Our favourites would have to be the smooth yet grimey collaborative sounds of 'Fractals' from Kareful and LTHL, the futuristic hardcore rolls of Sekt-87's 'Gangster' and of course the violent dubstep flavours of 'Depth' from Sirius.

Review: Sheffield's own Sekt-87 and Chip Butty Records join forces on this one for a powerhouse project, featuring four classic bassline originals. We start off with the speed garage influenced sounds of the title track 'Gangster' which kicks the EP off perfectly. Next up, the more gritty, distortion lead arrangement of 'Middle Finger'. After this we roll smoothly into 'Massive' which is similar to the title track in its instrumentation but with a more rhythmic focus on crunchy half time hi hats. We then finish up with the moog-like madness of 'Don't Be Shy' which focusses on well rounded bass design and rapid fire drum rhythms. Overall this is a great return to one of Sheffield's premier bassline imprints for Sekt-87.

Review: In:Flux let rip with a second massive V/A album of the year and it's an all-out bass riot featuring some of the label's most exciting names and affiliates as they tear each other's cuts apart and rebuild them in their own unique (and consistently gully) ways. Highlights include the spring two-step savagery Pavv's own VIP "Don't Look", the sci-fi spookiness and graveyard bass of Tik&Borrow's take on "Jah Victory", KXVU's tripped out wave-synth take on Pelikann's "Laughing Cow" and Pelikann's jacking bassline take on "No 6". Not a dull moment, In:flux aren't messing around mate.

Review: Get Fluxed Volume III couldn't have come at a better time; the summer heat is out and these garage drums aren't exactly gonna play themselves now are they!? Featuring Martin McFly's infamous Nike spacers on the cover, this jam-packed comp of goodness features all of the label's biggest names and, of course, the creme-de-la-creme of UK house music. Sitting somewhere on the hardcore continuum between garage and breaks, the likes of Pharaoh K, Joedan, Pelikann and Krissi B, among others, set out what will surely be THE bass release of the summer in terms of DJ playback. This is the sort of gear you hear out on the beach at Pula's mighty Outlook festival. Sun's out, bass out.

Review: The Sheff City boys are back with 12 high calorie teatime treats all smothered in basslines that are thicker than chippy gravy! If Chip Shop vol 1 announced Chip Butty Recs as the new leading light of the 4x4 Garage sound, then volume 2 suggests that they plan to keep the heat on high at the fryery. Founding members deliver the on-point bangers that we have come to expect from them but it is the newcomers that bring the real sizzlers here; Rico Tibbs ascends to the skies with uplifting rave pianos on "Warning" Judge Chucky draws for the distortion on breakbeat-techno-bass hybrid "Customer Service". While Rolls Royce opts for an old school flex that we would love to see revived this summer festival season. Not a single dud spud in the batch!

Review: If we're talking bass, then In:Flux Audio surely has to be in the running for most prolific label of 2016. The unstoppable collective is always full of tricks up their sleeves, and this Selection Box compilation is exactly the sort of thing we wanted to hear from them; a rough and packed collection of their best and most definitive moments of last year. From pseudo jungle, weird, amorphic dubstep, and killer speed-house, there isn't much that sounds wring with this release, and even the most demanding of bass-heads are likely to find something that they'll churn out week after week, floor after floor.

Review: Much like squashing a fly with a sledgehammer, Sheffield's Project Allout, counter Bristol's bass supremacy with this mammoth compilation. Yes, the second instalment in their eponymous series boasts a frankly absurd 39 new fresh bass cuts. It may take a while to get through it all, but that's half the fun. Inititial highlights include the speedy claps, fizzy hats and taut wobble vibes of "Manners" by 1Thirty, the horror move trap thrills of "Black Missile" by "Familiar Face" and the voluptuous house bass of Mooney's "At The Top".

Review: Sheffield's Project Allout don't mess about, having developed a reputation for championing all directions in the ways of bass. Every take on that three letter word is important to this label and that's why they cram so many hot jams onto their comps. Basically they're the Ferrero Rocher am-bass-adors and they are really spoiling us with 49(!) lengerz. Highlights include AT's bleepy 8-bit hip-hop groove "Flash Bang", the epic, symphonic trap of Dubzta's "Lord Of War" and the almost disco tech grooves of "Murkers' by King Hydra. All killer, no filler!
