Review: It was a banner year for Stuttgart, Germany-based label Parquet, as showcased on Retrospective 2021 which is curated and compiled by label chief Solee. The boss man kicks things off with the acidified dancefloor drama of "Luft", D-Nox & Gai Barone get slinky and hypnotic on "Painkiller", the ascendant Several Definitions is in fine form as always on the tension and suspense of "Orion", while Nors Kode gets ultra deep on the emotive "Lu". Elsewhere, James Harcourt weaves together a sublime tapestry of melodies on "Acceptance" and Aussie Nicholas Booey hands in the mandatory 'heads-down' groove on "Euphoric" (feat Ziggy).

Review: Parquet Recordings' 2020 | Retrospective compilation includes the label's most loved deep melodic house tracks of the year, all handpicked by label head Solee. From the evocative deep house of Shahin & Leiuna's "Paradigm" (Pete Oak Remix) which is perfect for the warm-up or sunset slot alike, to the brooding dancefloor drama of Rinzen & Evan Casey's "Expansion" which nails that Life & Death/Afterlife vibe. Elsewhere, the ever reliable Rauschhaus gets on with the slinky and hypnotic progressive house epic "What We Expected" and Ray T.J. (Sincopat) takes the energy levels into the peak time on the utterly euphoric "Calypso".

Review: The second instalment in the Parquetechno series gets off to a dramatic fashion, with the soaring strings of Cassidy's "Ancestry" and the melodic, atmospheric groove of HA|XO's "Alone In The Club". These are sandwiched between a different type of drama, namely the tough, Terrence Fixmer-style electro-techno groove of Several Definitions' "Enigma". Label owner Solee keeps the intensity levels up with the pulsating, tranced out "Verboten", but the compilation also reveals a flip side to these energetic tracks - audible on the deep minimal house of Djos's Davis' "Shimmer Mist" and the hypnotic, throbbing tech-house that Room Service delivers on "Antrazit".

Review: Stuttgart's Parquet recordings has built a solid reputation across the world with its intelligent yet accessible blend of lush deep house, groovy tech house, melodic techno and progressive elements. Its releases have received support from huge figures across the spectrum of house and techno and has a fantastic reputation - widely associated with some of the most respected and in-demand names in dance music. The label makes its way to the Dutch capital this year for the electronic music community's biggest event that is ADE, with a massive party at Chicago Social Club featuring label boss Solee, D-Nox & Beckers and veteran Gabriel Ananda. This compilation features some of the sonic arsenal that the label will be packing on the night. Highlights come from: Rinzen & Evan Casey's moody Innervisions style dancefloor drama on "Fractal", Marc DePulse's neon-lit and sensual "Pov", the glassy eyed and heartfelt narrative of Several Definitions "M24" and label affiliate Alex Preda's off-kilter and sombre "Vortex".

Review: Berlin native Oliver Koletzki has cited his hometown as a main point of reference and inspiration throughout his career. His last two albums are said to be 'wholehearted tributes' to the German capital and its importance in the current climate of electronic music. The label's aesthetic - right down to the cover art is testament to this - featuring photos of local landmarks and graffiti adorning his fair city. There are little to no corners in the city that haven't brought a spark of inspiration into the mix and the eighth instalment of the Schneeweiss (English translation 'white snow') compilation series, is said to be a tribute to the many aspects or 'particles' consolidated as a series of carefully curated tracks. There's so many highlights on here and we're only going to name a few, but they're not limited to: hometown hero and one time Terranova member Rampa's brooding dance floor drama on "Fluke", Frankey & Sandrino bridging the gap between tech-house and nu-disco ever so gracefully again on "Solaris", Cologne's finest Andhim lend their deft hand on a remix of Leipzig figurehead Matthias Tanzmann's "Coffee Clouds" and the man from Mannheim Ray Okpara who's still going: his track "Satin Curtain" getting a smooth remix by the legendary Kevin Yost.

Review: Several Definitions aka Jeremy Viera delivers his debut album and it's an impressive affair. The Swiss artist has previously released on Knee Deep in Sound, but nothing could have prepared his fans for Reborn. The title track and "Pontceard 32" are cinematic, ambient techno pieces, while on "Trust", he cleverly brings together sensuous vocals with trance-techno influences for a stirring piece. The pulsating groove of "Senility" is more in line with Stil Vor Talent's signature sound, but Reborn is full of unexpected twists and turns, and Viera is equally at home making down tempo pieces like "Learn to Feel" and the Italo/electro melancholy of "Modular Spaces".

Review: Congratulations to long-running Berlin label Still Vor Talent, which has now notched up no less than 200 releases. To celebrate this milestone, the label has put together this fine celebratory compilation featuring contributions from "old and new faces". Fittingly, it's arguably one of the imprint's strongest and most varied releases to date. Of course, there's plenty of typically Germanic fusions of deep house and tech-house present, but also the Arabic-influenced deep house exotica of Sam Shure, the rising, piano-laden dancefloor bliss of Oliver Koletzki's "Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously", the heavily electronic, club-ready psychedelia of Fideles ("Dark Stone") and the lilting melodies of Deorbiting's warm and picturesque "Warnsignal".

Review: Several Definitions, despite what the name may insinuate; is not a group rather one lone Swiss producer known as Jeremy. Appearing here for esteemed Berlin label Still Vor Talent, he presents four servings of tech house goodness on the You Are Not Alone EP. The original version of "Alone" is a dark and melodic journey track packed with the right amount of suspense and drama that'd make even the Life & Death camp up their game. The remix by Hatzler stays true to the original, but just gives it that extra amount of 'oomph' to play at the peak time slot. "Esmeralda" is also worthy of mention; this swirling and hypnotic trance odyssey is reminiscent of a more classic dance music style and is surefire magic on the dancefloor.
