Review: Longstanding Soul Deep crew member, Aussie soulstepper Severity belies his bleak artist name with this show-stopping vibe tryptic. Laced with dreamy atmospheres and evocative chords and textures throughout, we treated to a rainbow of positive moods: the daydream hurricane and loopy filtered hypnotic vocal of "Loveint", the surging, spine-melting vocal and LSB-style rising stepper groove of the title track and the grand finale "Like Dat", a track that bids us adieu with a star-gazing groove, soft-but-soaring synths and an alluring spoken word. Rewind dat.

Review: What a gorgeous sound these guys make. Separately, each of their tunes make complete, isolated sense. Laid together in a row, and they all sing from the same verses. Individual style and influences rarely gel this well, so it's a special thing indeed when four extremely talented producers, each relatively new to the scene, each from different corners of the world can get along so harmoniously. Each track on here comes from a different part of the D&B spectrum, from liquid roller to jungle-tinged futuristic shakedown; don't be surprised to find things swinging wildly between the two and touching every variation on the way past. Variety like this is a wonderful thing.

Review: You can always rely on Soul Deep to sooth the soul. In this, volume six of their highly-acclaimed compilation series, some of the world's freshest drum & bass talent come out to play. Featuring only the best new music from the likes of newcomers Soultec & Freebird, Severity Zero and talented upstart Caffeine as well as music from Karl Future and J:Logic, there's plenty here to keep you going 'til summer comes around. Our favourite has to be Marvel Cinema's mad jazzy jungle interlude "Jazz Technique", it's just crazy enough to work.

Review: It's not the first time these European genii have worked together but this is probably the most experimental they have been with their sound so far. Ditching liquid for the washed-out, sun-soaked, sand-worn sounds of old-school dub, track one is an instant synaesthetic trip down memory lane thanks to clever sampling by MSDOS. It's a surprise then, that on the flip is a sparkling, effervescent roller from Billy Green and Severity Zero that would be welcome in any Bukem set. Both tracks have that holiday sound, it's just one is firmly rooted in Kingston, while the other has its eyes on Rio. A great soundclash.

Review: Severity Zero returns to Focuz to spread more of his effortless soulful liquid D&B around. Which is nice. Picking up jazzy samples and breaks as he goes, there's a patchwork feel to "Remedy" that adds more interest than usually seen in a liquid tune. Breathy, trip-hop style vocals punctuate the track throughout, adding class while the big bolshy bassline throws its weight about. "Bread & Circuses" is a completely differet kettle of mackerel: Snap out that jazzy feel and replace it with frosty atmos and crisp production amid futuristic-sounding waves of synth. Two perfect winter tunes.

Review: Essex lad Brother and Sydney-bound Severity Zero have put mere miles aside to create this soulful EP, and everyone should be glad they did. The title track is a deeply soulful ride through lush liquid grooves and funky stepping beats perfect for getting the crowd moving. Also included is Malaky's sparkling remix of "Corners", which pieces together a heartbeat of a ticking clock with soul vibes and a laid-back attitude. More chilled than your average Malaky track, it's a beautiful slow burner made for cosy winter nights. One for the dreamers.

Review: Pulling out the crystalline rolling vibes on this one, Soul Deep let another diamond out of the bag in Severity Zero, Australia's most promising liquid D&B newcomer. From the very first track the depth and precision in SZ's production is felt, where sharp, clear synths cut through warm rolling bass. His strengths are big basslines and understated melodies that hang suspended over the low end and each track offers more beautifully delicate atmospherics to the mix. Standout track "No More Promises" is already big on the circuit - expect to hear far more from this guy.

Review: Celsius bring us another great EP, this time from the one like Severity Zero. "Analysis Paralysis" begins with a soft, lilting melody broken by a whispering lyric and bleepy SFX, and develops into a lovely roller with murmuring bass, gentle lyrics and plenty of summery atmospheres. The accompanying "Metamorphosis" is another surreal and dreamy piece of mastery, with its floating melodies, gentle rippling atmospherics and sense of peace, love and harmony. A quirky and very accessible release here from Severity Zero.

Review: Barely seven months have passed since Celsius's first label compilation, but that hasn't stopped them from curating yet another sublime selection of their best talent. Soulful rollers are the order of the day, armed with the perfect amount of bottom end welly but deep enough for some rather enchanting headphone listening, too. Highlights include the reverberating double bass strums on Dream Workers' "Duplicate", the Good Looking flavours on Severity Zero's "Snow" and the more contemporary bass rumbles of Phat Playaz "On Your Mind". But to be honest, they're all exceedingly checkable. If you're not feeling Celsius heat yet, here's an ideal place to start.

Reflecting Soul Deep's bat-like A&R ears and sharp eyes for emerging talent, each track sparkles with emotional charm and illustrious melodic flare. It would be cruel of us to highlight just one of these club-ready rollers... There's a lot to explore here!
