Review: Shinedoe has commissioned remixes of key tracks from her acclaimed Freedom Riders album. Truncate's take on "Expressionisme" isn't as tough as his own material, but it does marry one of his typically loopy grooves with the original track's synth melodies. Ritzi Lee also strays out of his comfort zone to rework "Shine", putting the focus on tribal drums and razor-sharp percussion. Keith Carnal transforms Shinedoe's recent single, "Wake Up" into a relentless, driving track, but it's the exception rather than the rule for this release. Lawrence's version of "So It Is" closes out the EP, with the German producer delivering a dizzyingly hypnotic take.

Review: In a short space of time, the RSPX series has become a key part of the Rekids imprint. More broadly, the releases are essential for discerning techno DJs. This compilation shines a light on why RSPX enjoys this status. Mark Broom's "Late Night Rave Muncher" is a diva vocal-led, high energy club banger, while Klint's "Mustang" achieves the same impact by different means. Focused on a rolling groove, filtered vocals weave in and out of the arrangement. That's not to suggest that the series is all about banging techno. Gene Richards Jr's "Take Control" is a superb, Chicago influenced jacker, powered by a primal groove and piledriving claps, while Philippe Petit's "Form & Function" resounds to eerie organs and a shuffling rhythm.

Review: Shinedoe takes a break from her MTM imprint to debut on Rekids. Striking a balance between stripped back techno and soulful musical elements, Feelings is a subtle but craftily effective affair. On the title track, the veteran DJ drops a sinewy, wiry rhythm track, underpinned by wispy vocal samples, while "Roots Are Calling" sees her fuse insistent riffs with a tough tribal groove. "Nature Save Us" is deeper but still Shinedoe keeps a focus on the dance floor with an insistent electronic bass and a driving rhythm, while on the 'Beats Mix', she delivers dramatic drums, analogue yelps and wild thunder claps.

Review: Shinedoe is based in Holland, but Samadhi feels closer to German house. Apart from the choice of label, the title track's tight, metallic drums and tightly wrapped bass sound like the product of many mornings spent in Panorama Bar. Listening to the surging acid line, you can almost feel the sun rays seeping through the club's half-opened shutters. "Pure Groove" is just as primal; the drums and snares rattle and swing nervously and the mixture of bleepy tones and churning chords is enough to recreate a feeling of unease and disorientation that one experiences after spending 12 hours in the P-Bar.
