Review: It's fair to say that this release has been a labour of love. Five years in the making, label owner Emmanuel has chosen a collection of tracks from his dream team of techno producers. This means that ASC's breathy ambience "Stasis" sits beside deep, at times acid -soaked pulsing rhythms from Boston 168, Unbalance and Forward Strategy Group as well as peak-time rollers from emerging artists like Cleric and industrial bangers courtesy of scene veterans like Dustin Zahn. While the inclusion of producers such as Subjected and the fast rising I Hate Models is sure to put increased focus on this compilation, its real, lasting value are the more cerebral contributions such as Emmanuel's own "Bridge of Quietness".

Review: Paris label Taapion delivers its fourth release, which captures the spirit of Paris' increasingly fertile techno scene. Featuring tracks by label owners Shlomo and PVNV, this instalment also welcomes Francois X. The Parisian artist drops the understated but effective "Dreaming Of The Tesseract", where lithe broken beats underpin bleak textures and ghostly howls, while Birth of Frequency impresses with his debut on the label, "Child", an understated, emotive slice of techno. So what of the artists behind Taapion? Shlomo's "Radioactive Sin" is an atmospheric, break beat led stepper, while PVNV shows that he is one of the French capital's most talented artists, dropping the spooky chords and pulsating groove of "Pace Chemistry", a near-perfect fusion of Detroit soul and European functionality.

Review: Shaun Baron-Carvais aka Shlomo follows up the first volume of In Absentia from last year with this second instalment, The Taapion Records owner draws on Delsin's heritage of deep techno for the title track, with mysterious synths cascading airily over a nagging rhythm. On "Tbilisian Cure", he changes direction and increases the tempo to deliver a rolling, drum-heavy affair, while "Lali" marks a more radical shift, as he navigates a path that traverses dreamy ambient and Asian motifs. However, the focus of this EP is mainly on the dance floor, and the Tommy Four Seven version of "Lali", with its punishing broken beats, pushes it back towards techno.

Review: Shaun Baron-Carvais aka Shlomo returns to Arts after last year's Rapture. The Paris-based producer has carved out a name with his loopy but always funky take on techno and Hardwave is no exception. The title track is a dense, percussive roller, with some freaky vocals buried deep in the mix. "Styx" has a similar aesthetic, but the approach is somewhat different; revolving around a slightly looser arrangement, it sees Shlomo use a series of drops and builds, along with some cleverly positioned filtering, to create a track that ranks up there with O/V/R's finest material. On "Parhelion", the sound is just as intense, with Shlomo dropping wild tonal signals over a ferocious percussive rhythm. It's peak time techno at its finest.

Review: The latest release on Tommy Four Seven's label features tracks from the guests who performed at his night in Arena, Berlin back in February. It's a mixed bag. Amotik's "Sau" is a proper, 90s-influenced peak time affair - redolent of Luke Slater's infamous remix of "Forklift" its shrieking sirens unfolding over relentless kicks. Shlomo's "Golem" also plays out on the dance floor, although its sleek pulses and steely percussion are less intense than Amotik's contribution. The two other tracks, from the label owner and Pfirter, revolve around broken beats. Tommy's "Funf" is a dark, layered workout, while "Homeostasis" is less intense thanks to its subsonic bleeps, but those clanging drums lend it some serious weight.

Review: Since debuting on his Taapion Records imprint back in 2013, Shlomo has delivered a succession of quietly impressive, abstract techno EPs. The Delsin crew were clearly fans, as they've asked him to deliver a series of 12" singles under the In Absentia title. This first 'tome' opens with the icy techno throb of PVNV hook-up "In Absentia", before diving headfirst into darker waters via the rubbery electronics, hushed textures and relentless bottom-end thump of "Escape From The Void". There's a strangely grandiose feel to "Poison River", where dub techno style sonic textures ride a thunderous techno groove. A fine EP reaches its' conclusion with Artefakt's hustling, slow-burn remix of the same track.
