Review: Proggy main room techno for fans of Innervisions or Life & Death on offer here from the always reliable Poker Flat and showing yet again that they're always on the pulse. Spain's Simon Garcia follows up releases on Freerange and Quartz Recordings with this two track stunner, his second on Steve Bug's imprint. "Ataraxia" is a nefarious, futuristic slow burner that chugs away perfectly for main room dancefloors. Fans of Stephan Bodzin will definitely appreciate this one. The second track "A Hot Drink In The Desert" is a tunnelling and hypnotic affair with its melodic high pitched toms entrancing you throughout its duration and the real standout here. Check this out!

Review: It's been two years since we heard from Simon Garcia, a producer who last appeared on Steve Bug's Poker Flat in 2012. Here the Spaniard embraces loops and repetition by delivering a deeper take on disco-influenced, Tiger & Woods-styled house music, with the title-track grooving with chimes and octave jumping Rhodes to appease the Saturday night crowd. "How Long" is a heavy disco burner you can imagine DJ Harvey using to light up a festival set, while Mathew Styles delivers a minimal remake of "Radians" laced with a huge dose of euphoria.

I Never Knew (Mr Tophat remix) - (9:13) 123 BPM
from $1.49
Review: Spanish producer Simon Garcia rocks quite the beard and has appeared on a who's who of labels in recent times not limited to Poker Flat, Freerange, Supplement Facts and now Catz N Dogz' esteemed Pets Recordings. On the melodic and hypnotic "I Never Knew" (feat Trisse Young - original mix) there's some trippy vocal samples and glistening arpeggios over a bumpy bass and rapid fire rhythm, all programmed immaculately. The remix of said track by Swedish house larrikin Mr Tophat is as quirky as always but a dusty and delightful disco derived jam that's so worth mentioning. On "Trimmer', Garcia goes for something deeper and sexier with its sultry, swirling chords and dreamy pads dancing over an attitude driven shuffle that could have equally been at home on Poker Flat sister label Dessous.
