Review: Originally released on cassette, it is hard to believe that Soluble Memories is the debut release from Slow Comet. Throughout this EP, it feels like the Swedish producer has absorbed and distilled some of electronic music's most memorable tropes from the past four decades. "Apostate" and "Eclipse" are teased out, hypnotic grooves laden down with droning textures and niggling acid lines. "Flashback" sees this new artist venture farther down this direction, but also features a pulsing, menacing ebm bass. Finally, there's "Phase Shift". Of all the four tracks, this is the one that is closest in sound to label curator Drvg Cvltvre. Its filters are foreboding and doom-laden and the groove swaggers with the same kind of menace as the Dutch veteran's music.
