Review: Making their Top Billin debut after beings good friends with the label for years, Smalltown DJs deliver "Love Decoy" featuring the vocal talents of Bonjay's Alanna Stuart. The track itself is a razor sharp piece of tropical tinged house, filled with sharp kicks and subtle melodies. The release also offers a heavyweight remix package from So Shifty, Top Billin, Oliver, Jubilee, Momazing and Emynd - our picks are Jubilee's stripped back, bass heavy reworking and Momazing's riotous siren heavy reworking which sounds like a more restrained version of Major Lazer.
Review: New from T&A Records, Canadian club-killers Smalltown DJs smash it in a dancehall/electro style with "Loving The Vibe", which mixes Trigga Nom's fresh, rootsy flow with a wobbly beat and some hard-rocking tropical snares. Among the excellent remixes included, it's hard to pick a favourite between the punchy Bmore/breaks makeover from Deekline and Lars Moston's subtle bass refix
Whole Sick & Tomb Crew - "I Go Sick" - (4:52) 132 BPM
Top Billin & Wolfhaus - "Heart Of The Traitor" - (4:27) 140 BPM
Mega Banton & Kush Arora - "Shake Sitten" (Kush Arora's china white instrumental) - (9:04) 122 BPM
Review: Cripes! Top Billin' doesn't seem to even stop for Christmas! This latest is a compilation of their best releases from 2012, and considering their pretty hefty back catalogue, they had their work cut out for them. Boasting a whopping 25 tracks, the album's highlights include the Tropical campery of "Phil So Real", the glorious "Always Got My Back", the Future bass exoticism of "I Told Ya", the sparse and dreamy drum machine and soft pad heaven of "Find Your Love", the sci-fi ghetto beats of "Work It", the badass old skool house of "House Girl" and "Motion Elements (Snuff Crew remix)" and the blissed out Italo-disco ish "Shake Sitten (Kush Arora remix)".
