Review: Phat Elephant Recordings is a new label to 2014 and so is Smok, an artist who debuts on the Amsterdam-based label. Smok provides two productions; the first, "Watching You", is linear yet bouncy minimal house track which in parts sounds inspired by trance, Chicago house and Richie Hawtin's M_nus, which is totally stripped back in Offshore & Coen's remix. The second, "Nameless", is a deeper and heavier production that flirts with the idea of being dub techno without falling too far down the wormhole.
