Review: What began with the release of the first album single "Home" in October 2020 now culminates, more than two years later in a collection featuring 16 remixes from Solomun's Nobody Is Not Loved album. Maceo Plex delivers a hi-tech rendition of "Kreatur Der Nacht", DJ Koze serves up a typically left-of-centre rendition of "Oceans" featuring actor Jamie Foxx, and in a surprising addition Salon des Amateurs resident Lena Willikens remixes "The Center Will Not Hold". Elsewhere, Kim Ann Foxman serves up a downbeat perspective of "Take Control" featuring Anne Clarke and Detroit veteran Carl Craig appears with his brooding rework of "Prospect" featuring ATNA.

Review: Diynamic head honcho Solumun is back with some top tier remixes from his acclaimed long player of 2021 - Nobody Is Not Loved. This release features Pampa main man DJ Koze taking lead single "Ocean" (featuring vocals by the leading Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx) into deep, dark and dirty territory in his inimitable style as always, while British minimal house maestro Matthew Herbert serves up a real glassy-eyed and bittersweet rendition of "Prospect". Both remixes come with instrumental versions included.

Review: It's hard to believe that Cocoon is celebrating its 20th anniversary, but what's not difficult to grasp is that Sven Vath's imprint is marking the occasion in style. Rampa and Emanuel Satie kick-start this compilation with emotive, tranced out tracks - in particular Rampa's "2000" is particularly poignant - while Cocoon mainstays like Gregor Tresher and Ricardo Tobar up the pace with the musical but clubby techno of "Nostalgia (Is The Enemy)" and "El Eterna" respectively. As always, Cocoon strikes a flawless balance between showcasing local producers and international names; 20 Years is no exception and features frazzled acid from Josh Wink as well as steely percussive bangers courtesy of Planetary Assault Systems and Jacek Sienkiewicz.

Review: Berlin institution Watergate Records celebrates its 10 year birthday, with this special 50 track anthology of their favourite records. Over the last decade, the imprint has set a standard for captivating electronic music from across the house and techno spectrum, successfully mirroring the club's booking policy. Now up to over 60 releases including a remix of the Josh Wink classic "Higher State Of Consciousness" by residents Adana Twins, and the 26th installment in their acclaimed mix series by Danish legends Whomadewho - this compilation presents some of its most memorable cuts since its inception in 2008. Highlights come from: label staple Mathias Meyer - the Hanseatic hero presenting several tracks including "Love Letters From Sicily" with Ryan Davis, local legends Tiefschwarz on "Fire It Out" feat. Ruede Hagelstein, resident La Fleur getting remixed by Detroit legend Kenny Larkin on "Nightflow" and rising duo Adriatique's 7am remix of "The Spirit" by the ever impressive Butch (featuring Hohberg) amony many others.

Review: Hearty congratulations to Michael Reinboth, whose Compost Records' imprint recently celebrated its 25th birthday. As a way of marking this momentous occasion, the label has conjured up this expansive compilation, which offers up a blend of fresh remixes of label classics, overlooked revisions, bonus cuts and the odd hard-to-find classic (see Move D's superb "Hurt Me", which first appeared on the imprint in the mid-90s). Highlights are plentiful from start to finish, with Roman Flugel's throbbing rework of Beanfield's "Human Patterns", I:Cube's LFO-influenced re-make of A Forest Mighty Black's "Fresh In My Mind", Joakim's funk-fuelled acid take on Marbert Rocel's "Dance Slow" and Die Orangen's wonderfully druggy interpretation of Marsmobil's "Sometimes I Don't Regret" all catching the ear.

Review: It seems as if 15 years have just flown by since Berlin institution Watergate first opened their doors at the base of the famous Oberbaumbrucke, overlooking the River Spree and where long queues run down the street every weekend to get into one of the best clubs in the world. To celebrate their journey over the last decade and a half, they have put together a special anniversary release of 25 new, exclusive and formerly unreleased tracks. Residents of the superclub all appear, such as Hamburg native Matthias Meyer who teams up with Ryan Davis on the evocative "Hope", famed local duo Tiefschwarz deliver the slow burning and moody tech house of "Control", Sweden's La Fleur (of Power Plant fame) delivers the acidic bump and shuffle of "Femton" and former Stattbad resident and Beste Modus boss Cinthie gets deep on the classic house sound of "Hatschi Hatschi" which has a whole heap of swing to it!

Review: No one does contemporary disco like Dimitri From Paris. And no one has the compilation licensing clout like Defected. Naturally this is a match made in glitterball heaven as DFP spans 40 years of grooves with a spotless collection of his own edits and upfront jams. Ranging from his own twists on standard disco gems such as "Le Freak" and "Lost In Music" to the likes of Disclosure's "F For You" and Todd Terje's "Delorean Dynamite" this is, without question, one of Defected's most extensive, expansive and exciting collections to date - which really is saying something. A natural fit for all house, disco and funk fans young and old.

Review: Solomun has made a virtue out of releasing melodic house music and his latest record is no exception. That said, "Medea" marks a shift of sorts; over a pulsing, tunnelling groove and rolling drums, he introduces dramatic melodic sweeps, the kind that you'd hear on old techno-trance record on Harthouse or Music Man. The title track sees him revert to type, with sensuous pads and acid-tinged melodic hooks dropped over heavy claps. To add to the sense of drama, he delivers an operatic vocal sample as the break down nears. There's also a "strings only" beatless version for those who want to appreciate Solomun's sense of melody away from the dance floor.
Review: By his usually prolific standards, Mladen Solomun has been pretty quiet of late. There was only one single in 2012, and this is his first of 2013. It's a particularly bold effort, lacing a powerful vocal over shuffling snares, bubbling synths and murky low-end chords. The vocal definitely falls into the Marmite category; while some will love it, others will be turned off. For the record, there's a vocal-free dub, which abandons the singing in favour of more hustling darkness. The final version, the Summer Began Mix, makes more use of the original vocal hook ("summer just began and I don't want it to end"), while stretching out the grooves to 10 epic minutes.
