Review: As one of the most undeniably consistent dubstep imprints of 2022, we are thrilled to see the Infernal Sounds crew turning the heat up right from the start of the year as they deliver a mega compilation project, featuring 17 absolute sizzlers. The range that Infernal Sounds are able to deliver is very apparent across this project from start to finish, from the otherworldly chord shimmers of Conzi's 'Drift' to the more sublow synthesiser sweeps of 'Executioner' from Blottarz and all the way back to the intricate percussive mastery of Bisweed's 'By My Side'. It's an all star cast, with the likes of Mistah, Substrada, Dayzero, Gnesha, Kodama and more all providing heavy hitters, with our favourites including E S P's super spooky whirlpool entitled 'Open Mind', next to Saraphim's super smooth 'Cool Box' original.

Review: The Cutcross crew have pulled together a very exciting compilation box with this latest 'With The Sonants' collection, welcoming four producers whose arsenals are truly stacked with sonic colour. We open up with Epoch's '2 Door Subaru', a monster of an original, focussing on drone-like synth tones and dizzying snare delays, before Woven Thorns unleashes the horrorcore pad backdrops and clicky percussive shuffles of 'Loveless' for a real switch up. The glitchy feel continues as ZNS then delivers the chiming yet ghoulish tones of 'Try Me', followed by a wicked finale in Soukah's 'Don't Care', an industrial march through gnarly bass belches and big room drum smashes, rounding off the collection with a bang.

Review: Grubs up! eatmybeat and Soukah cook up a storm right here with this delicious three course feast with two special remix side dishes. Such a banquet was only a matter of time as both artist and label have been cultivating the same exciting leftfield bass pastures for several years. Hot on the heels of his personal and highly explorative 'Art Of The Devil' EP late 2020, each of these cuts bring us back to the dance. 'Illusionist' stutters and slides into dark oblivion with the help of key MC phrases and loose-limbed beats, 'Magnetic Fields' looks to the heavens with its sweeping synth chimes and soft harmonics while 'Puerto Rico' closes on a bashy percussive flex. Complete with exceptional versions from Kahter and WZ, we guarantee you won't feel disillusioned by this 'Illusionist'. Yummy.

Review: We have come to expect great things from the Rarefied team, who continue to deliver top quality releases left right and centre, with every drop being just as unique as the last. This fabulous new compilation is a fantastic showcasing of the breadth in sound the label has to offer, from the stunning musical landscapes of Sibla's 'Entity' score, to the beautiful vocal manipulations of Kodama's 'Talk More' and crunchy drum work of 'Voyagers' from Freud'. The project is riddled with musical genius, but for us, the standouts have to include the crystalized brilliance of 'Distant', which sees Primer & Soukah link up for a piece of musical art, alongside the choppy drum swings and haunted synth bubbles of 'Odd, U See' from Pharma. Incredible work all around!

Review: This is a proper dubstep release coming for your ears from Sub Audio, as they've gone down the always entertaining route of having two remixers do a rework of each track on a single. The originals this time around are from Soukah, who has crafted up two stunners. The first, Life Without Meaning' is built upon a gentle rise, a moonlit walk, up the mountains and into a world of fireflies and celestial arpeggios. It's a seriously vibey tune and it's done justice by Kodama on the remix, who stretches things out and gives it all that extra oomph in the kick drums. 'You Can Run Much Faster' is equally spooky, with eerie ambience coming from its whispered sample and stretched out piano notes, a vibe taken to extremes on Ourman's awesome, loping remix. Top work from the Sub Audio crew.

Review: Well, what a selection we have here as Strictly 140 drop one hell of a compilation project, featuring an array of dubstep heaters under the title of 'The Overseas'. Featuring nine absolute scorchers, this project sees the team showcase some of the hottest names in the 140 scene right now, including WZ, Dalek One, RDG, Gaze Ill, Pharama, Roklem, Sebalo and more. For us there are a couple of very clear standouts from this project, with Subtle Mind's stunning 'Subtle Mind' composition being one of them, alongside the twisted eastern string tones and pulsating subs of 'Nani' from Ourman!

Review: Dubtribu as a label for us have really pushed themselves to the forefront of the modern dubstep scene, always supplying us with electric energy. They have continued this theme here as they bring forward Soukah on four tracks of pure fire. The title track 'Light Extinguished' is a satanic expanse of gritty drum designs and subtle sub manoeuvres, whilst 'Vaccum' provides us with a more stripped back selection of percussive leads over a dark atmospheric backing. Following this we dip into 'Violets Are Red', which is driven by sweeping drum hits and crunchy halftime designs, with 'Cold Blooded' putting the finishing touches in place via its haunted tones and powerful sub layers.

Review: We feel that Cue Line have pulled out an absolute gem on this one as they let Mob Killa run wild with creativity on his brand new EP 'Sinker'. The title track to begin with is as eerie as they come, shuffling unpredictable percussive sounds and haunting tones above subtle sub work. This is followed by the dubwise flavours of 'Deep Sea Search' before we move into the highly anticipated 'Document Z' collaboration with Soukah, which takes spacey syncopation to the next level. We then finish up the EP with the incredibly innovative triple delays of 'Out Your Zone', which glitches together unorthodox rhythms to create something truly unique indeed.
