Review: We often wonder if there is anything that can stop the combined powers of both Soul Mass Transit System & Time Is Now in collaboration, but we then remembered, why would anyone want that. This gorgeous collection showcases just how strong this power-coupling is, with 'Nobody Else But U' leading the way in a wash of silky subs and groovy vocal chops. From here, 'Break Ur Heart' continues to have a high energy feel, with more rampant 4x4 energy running wild, followed by 'Cookin Up Yer Brain' for another sumptuous dose of old school energy. We then close off proceedings with 'Stand By Me' venturing into the realms of jungle, amalgamating choppy breaks and booming 808s for a vibrant finale.

Review: Next up from Gimme A Break, a warm welcome for one of the most talked about names in UKG right, as Soul Mass Transit System touches down for a vibrant collection of warbling masterclasses. We begin with the slightly quirky synth work of 'Wait No More', a trundling crunch through choppy drum breaks and distant radar signals, with the more stripped back, broken-beat approach of 'Lovin Me' in hot pursuit. From here, the system rattling bass rumbles and chest-bumping kick pumps of 'Real Love' arrive in serious style, amping the ravers up to the top of their trees, to be met by the beautiful organ work and tight drum processing of 'Fly' for an emotive landing. A genuinely joyous journey through new garage flavour.

Review: Oi oi, Instinct is back with more gun finger touting, bass-face pulling garage goodness. This one from Soul Mass Transit System click off with a dark groove and shuffling drums run through with plenty of old school signifiers. 'Poison Dart' is another one with marvelous scratchy drums and snares powering it feared as withering sonics, rude boy bass and hints of female vocal all get you marching along. 'Bad' closes out with wobbly bass and crisp hits. It's a more swinging groove with extra room for the sounds to hit that bit harder. Killer tackle.

Review: It's a truly exciting time for Soul Mass Transit System, a name that continues to pump out top quality new school garage music from dusk until dawn. Time Is Now have unveiled a brand new collection from the already legendary figure, opening up with the "4 The Bristol Crew" mix of 'Murderation', giving us a sizzling rave-ready weapon, packed to the brim with explosive 2-step energy. The more mellow melodies and subtle horn toots of '95 Selection' then follow for an immediate switch up, wth 'Gonna Be Alright' then pumping the energy levels back up with a sumptuous subby roller. Finally 'Listen' gives us a whomping closer, tying together sweeping reesey subs with high octane drum processing and catchy patois vocal chops, closing out another monumental EP.

Review: Since joining forces as Soul Mass Transit System a couple of years ago, Baby J and D Jason have released a wealth of club-ready singles, many of which explore their love of vintage UK garage. This EP on Vivid is a little more eclectic but no less celebratory or peak-time ready. For proof, check saucer-eyed opener 'Set You Free', where giddy old school piano stabs, stretched-out sub-bass and spinetingling female vocal samples ride a rolling breakbeat, and the revivalist hardcore hedonism of the ludicrously bass-heavy 'Nah Nah Nah'. They doff a cap to their bassline roots on crunchy breakbeat roller 'Phat Booty', before drawing a fine EP to a close with the two-step-goes-Niche heaviness of 'Smoke'.

Review: Leeds twosome Soul Mass Transit System have been one of the success stories of the last 18 months, with their bass-heavy blends of UK dance music styles old and new gracing such labels as Timeisnow, Warehouse Rave and Dr Banana. Their latest EP, the pair's second outing on Instinct, is another strong offering. They begin with the seductive, sub-powered two-step revivalism of '1 Of A Kind', before reaching for darker sonic textures, serious wobble bass and echoing ragga snippets on 'Extremely Dangerous'. 'Never Turn My Back' is a pleasingly bouncy chunk of bassline-influenced two-step heat, while 'Turn The Lights Down' ratchets up the low-end pressure while showcasing chiming melodies and ultra-dreamy pads. High-grade garage business that should be an essential for anyone who loves two-step.

Review: As one final treat from Soul Mass Transit System and Time Is Now, the entity duo has joined forces once again to deliver three spectacular new rollers to close out the year in style with, once again pushing them to the top of the tree. We begin with 'Freak-ee', a bubbling garage roller, combining distant saxophone melodies and atmospheric vocal riffs to unleash a smooth sizzler for the dance. Second, 'All I Need' ups the pace with a pack of punchy drum sounds and glitchy vocal slicing atop a bulbous bassline, before moving into the nostalgic sub-drives and super-skippy rhythmic displays of 'The Message', which puts the perfect final topping on one final wicked selection from Soul Mass Transit System, drawing a close to an epic year of releases.

Review: As is often the way, this new one on Instinct is as rude as flicking the bird in a pair of Nike TNs and a full tech fleece. It comes from Soul Mass Transit System, a Leeds based duo made up of D. Jason and Baby J known for their retro tinged garage bangers. 'Wine' is all naughty bass, slamming drums and jungle samples, while 'Babeh' gets more down and dirty on tightly programmed kicks, dark bass and echoing vocals that are all made for the peak time. Last of all, 'I Know' is a cluster of percussive hits and reversed effects, warped bass and twisted rhythms that make for perfect body music.

Review: The Time Is Now team appear to have uncovered another set of gems for us all to enjoy as they welcome back the sounds of Soul Mass Transit System for a spectacular four track display of new school garage brilliance. We begin with the industrial style drum rolls and eerie atmospheric pressures of 'Give It 2 U', which sets the tone nicely as we explore a stunning electronic landscape. Next, 'My Name Is Down' takes it old school as heavily affected drum flicks and warbling bass tones play the lead role, followed by the explosive junglist flavours of 'Trubble N Strife' which gives the EP a serious switch up. Finally, it's time for the set closer as the joyous piano chords and powerful sub-lines of 'Got Me Burnin' gives us a perfect EP closer.

This track works as an incredibly vibrant kickstarter, linking together crunchy garage-inspired drum syncopations with potent sub-pressure and Killa P's super catchy vocal lines. This EP also features two top notch solo creations from Soul Mass Transit System, with 'Take My Love' arriving first for a shuffling 2-step masterclass in rhythmic design. Finally, the rolling drum switches and nicely placed vocal slices of 'All Night' round things off in serious style!

Review: Garage is back and bigger than ever before it would seem, which is why we were so thrilled to see this fabulous new compilation from the Time Is Now crew land, showcasing the perfect balance of new and old school creations. Interplanetary Criminal steps up first with the incredibly catchy vocal and riff work of 'Crazy', followed by the groovy chord plucks and sweeping subs of 'Someone' from Soul Mass Transit System. It all gets a bit rhythmically twisted next as Holloway delivers a fabulous 2-step masterclass with 'Wisemen', chased up by catchy vocal sampling and stripped back composition of 'Mercy' from Mainphase. Finally, Ollie Rant delivers an uplifting harmonic groove with 'Uptown' before we round off on 'Good Day', a slower creation from Wilfy D's catalogue, providing the perfect finale.

Review: Well well, we do have something special here as Soul Mass Transit System deliver a pair of old school rollers, perfect for a refreshing dancefloor dip. We begin with the title track 'Tryna Take My Man Away' which combines a catchy, almost seductive sounding vocal sample with pleasing bass warbles and crispy drum structures with fantastic results. On the flipside to this, we then take in the sounds of 'Slapcrack' a proper throwback of a garage roller, again employing subtle LFO structures to a groovy bassline alongside well processed drums for an instant dance floor-ready slap.
