Review: After a decade showcasing his wares on Bedrock, Stelios Vassiloudis has transferred to Balance Music. There's a lot to like about 'End Transmission', the Athens-based producer's label debut. In the EP-leading 'Single Version' form, the track is a genuine blast of squint-worthy audible sunshine: a slowly building ambient soundscape where shimmering pads and glistening guitars cluster sparse, laidback beats and warming bass that seemingly build in waves. Vassiloudis rebuilds it for the dancefloor on the 'Dub Variation', re-imagining it as a loopy chunk of weighty soundscape tech-house, but it's John Beltran's 'Sweet Sunny Remix' - a sublime, awe-inspiring ambient take tailor-made for spring runrises - that really sparkles. It's genuinely breath-taking.

Review: Vassiloudis, who is best known for his work on Bedrock, follows last year's Crossroads EP on Balance with this immersive affair. "Building Better Worlds" is an atmospheric but driving track that resounds to layered textures and chiming melodies. Meanwhile on "Supermodel", he drops the tempo to deliver dubbed out drums and a brooding bass that provides the basis for dreamy synth lines. "Tunnel Vision" sees Vassiloudis focus more on this downtempo approach, as slow-motion beats are fused with shiny melodies and robotic vocals. The Greek producer's journey into the home listening realm continues on "Manual", where cosmic keys and guitar licks are fused with a chugging groove.

Review: Silicone Soul's Darkroom Dubs return courtesy of Greek dub techno explorer Stelios Vassiloudis - making his debut on the Glasweigian imprint. Following up a slew of impressive releases recently on Bedrock, Poker Flat and Australian label Balance, the Nero EP is what the label eloquently described itself as a 'deep, dark and beguiling affair'. From the ice cold and glacial emotions of cavernous opener "Doxie #3",to the dub laden and reverb drenched aesthetic continuing on the entrancing groove of "Error" and the afterhours inspired minimal funk of "1MDB" using TB303 acid in tandem with yet more sublime dub chord action - this release is indeed dark music for dark times.

Review: Quality progressive house action from long standing Aussie label Balance Music here. Three time winner of Israel's DJ of the Year award Sahar Z has worked with everyone from Bedrock to Lost & Found, while Stelios Vassiloudis might just be one of the most well-known exponents of emotive house to come from Greece. His impressive resume of releases takes in such esteemed labels like Poker Flat, Ovum, Audiomatique, and Moodmusic. This is the pair's second session of collaboration, and the Crossroads EP is destined to take you to distant places in your mind. Go deep into the exotic on the hypnotic bliss that is the mesmerising title track, the dark energy of 'heads down' number "Black Tears" will draw you deep into the aether while the heavenly and sublime "Front Row" is a perfectly euphoric cut that's ideal to play before they turn the lights on in the morning.

Review: John Digweed looks back on a terrific year that was 2018 - not to mention the 20th anniversary of his Bedrock label. This last year saw him serve up the Bedrock XX box set, team up with good mate Nick Muir on the terrific "Crazy Diamond" in addition to his awesome Live In Tokyo mix CD - so there's plenty to celebrate. Featured here are some of the year's highlights and exclusives alike by heroes of deep tech house such as: Booka Shade with their moody cruiser "Rosebud", Belgian veteran Jimmy Van M appears several times but is most on-form on "Cobalt", Systematic head honcho Marc Romboy with his impressive sci-fi epic "Cosmo" and the return of trance legend Oliver Lieb on the riveting "Epoxi".

Review: Athens Stelios Vassiloudis returns to Bedrock with his distinct take on the dub techno sound, albeit more slinky, groovy and housier - that's earned him additional releases on labels like Poker Flat and Selador. Lead track "Blinders" is bold and greyscale while "Kitchen Knife" is indeed as sharp as a blade's edge on this cavernous and glacial club expression. It soon proves to be quite a diverse affair, where Vassiloudis proves that there's quite a range in his repertoire with the funky progressive house elevation of "Looking California" and the introverted/understated minimal house of "Zabriskie Point" perfect for taking listeners deep into the afterhours. Impressive stuff as always from the underrated producer.

Review: Athens based Stelios Vassiloudis first appeared on our radar earlier in 2017 with the super impressive 'Chair In Orbit' EP for Hamburg powerhouse Poker Flat, in collaboration with one of the city's finest: Nils Nuernberg. This time he hooks up with Tel Aviv veteran Sahar Z (a known collaborator with local hero Guy Gerber) with an impressive two trackers for the infamous Bedrock imprint - and you can bet that there are some atmospheric, dub-inflected tech house experiments on offer. There's the hypnotic cyclicality of "Nagasaki" with its cavernous stomp and delay drenched aesthetics that will prove to be a worthy tool for a serious DJ's set. Second offering "Osaka" is more in line with John Digweed's label on this slinky and melodic progressive house epic. Its immaculate production and evocative feel throughout is sure to create some true euphoria wherever it gets played.
