Review: German power duo Steve Bug and Max 'Langenberg' Heesen collaborate again for the former's esteemed Poker Flat imprint, following up such modern classics like "NGC 6240", "Chord Cluster" and 2018's magnificent full length 'Paradise Sold'. Be prepared for some big time trance induction on the spellbinding "Emphasizer" - this is one of the most euphoric sonic journeys we have heard thus far in 2020. This is followed by good vibes and sonic positivity on the punchy tech house groove of "Thierry Moogler" - at once a dedication to the synth in its melodic bassline and, of sorts, to the French legend of high fashion.

Review: A stone cold tech house classic, Steve Bug's 'Loverboy' was first released on his Hamburg-based Poker Flat label back in 1999. Coincidentally, it was their first ever release too. Exclusive reworks have been few and far between, with legends such as Josh Wink and Guido Schneider only having the privilege thus far. Now as part of the label's 20 year celebrations, more names are added to that remix list that are equally worthy of your attention. First up, esteemed Polish duo Catz 'n Dogz give the track a tough bounce for the main room, complete with exotic steel drum sounds for added measure. This is followed by Berlin veteran Acid Pauli's Retouch, which goes for a trippy, minimalist and psychedelic journey that will sound a treat under the strobelights and the smoke machine.

Review: It has certainly been a big year for German veteran Steve Bug, who celebrated 20 years of his famed Poker Flat label and the recent release of "Mantis On The Moon" with UNER. Collaboration is clearly his thing, and once again he's made the right choice of studio partner, this time in the form of Koelsch wunderkind Tim Engelhardt - himself a Poker Flat staple - they both stare directly into the "Eyes Of The Python" here for Sasha's ever reliable Last Night On Earth. From the slinky and hypnotic sensuality of "River Of Babylon" which offers up something more uplifting, to the sinister atmospherics of the title track which is perfect for those heads down moment during the warm up set - or the end of the night alike.

"How We Live" is a deep, funky and groovy tech house jam that's perfectly geared for late night dancefloors and featuring G-Tech's moody and frantic vocal delivery. Fuse London staple Rich NxT gets onboard with a rendition which shows off his penchant for functional and tough rolling UK tech house, while Tom Cox, better known in the world of underground music as Tommy Vercetti, goes for a boompty and soulful deep house vibe in classic NYC style.

Review: Second time around for Apes Go Bananas' "Kerri On", a heartfelt tribute to U.S deep house don Kerri Chandler that first appeared on wax back in 2015. This time round, the Steve Bug and Cle produced original mix - a suitably bumpin' U.S house style roller rich in jammed-out organ riffs, spacey synths and warm, undulating bass - comes backed by two fresh 2019 remixes. First James Dexter offers a deeper and woozier interpretation build around even heavier bass, spacey riffs and chunkier drums, before Langenberg wraps the duo's headline-grabbing organ stabs around a dubby bassline and stripped-back drums.

Review: Poker Flat chief Steve Bug steps up here to deliver the longstanding imprint's next release, following up impressive offerings by the likes of Josh Butler, Simone Vitullo and Animal Trainer. He delivers the slinky and hypnotic tech house cut " Solid Maybe " fuelled by minimal arrangement and a moody atmosphere. Second offering "Chordwalk Empire" likes its name suggests is powered by some terrific chord progressions that exemplifies a wonderful expression in melodic techno - that would hold its own alongside stuff by other masters of the craft such as Aril Brikha or John Tejada.

Review: Steve Bug's first release of 2018 sees him worship at the Motor City altar. While the title track's percussive rhythm is typical for the Poker Flat owner's approach to house music, it's the other elements that really shine here. A ponderous vocal, like something from a Mike Huckaby production, intones that everything is 'different in Detroit', while expansive dub chords play out in the background. Ornaments regular Rhauder delivers a more uptempo, rolling take on the original track, while on Marko Furstenberg's version, reflective, frosty chords unravel over a slower, dubbed out arrangement. It concludes an unexpected release from one of house music's leading producers.

Review: Knee Deep In Sound have tapped two of Germany's true veterans of tech house for a killer collaboration here. Poker Flat head honcho Steve Bug teams up with Berlin staple Cle of Martini Bros fame, for the moody dancefloor drama of "Voodoo" which is perfect late night mood lighting. With its pounding drums, hypnotic chime melody and druggy vocals: this one has the main room at pre-peak time in mind! On a deeper and more sensual tip, we have the lush progressive house atmospherics of "Rise & Shine" which is perfect to create some more spiritual and introspective moments on the dancefloor - earlier in the evening or before the lights come on in the morning. Finally we get some heavy artillery for when the tough gets going courtesy of Drumcode's Reset Robot, who turns in an absolutely roaring rendition of "Voodoo" complete with doom laden dub chords and steely rhythms galore: this will have you surrendering to the void via a long trail of reverb.

Review: It seems as if 15 years have just flown by since Berlin institution Watergate first opened their doors at the base of the famous Oberbaumbrucke, overlooking the River Spree and where long queues run down the street every weekend to get into one of the best clubs in the world. To celebrate their journey over the last decade and a half, they have put together a special anniversary release of 25 new, exclusive and formerly unreleased tracks. Residents of the superclub all appear, such as Hamburg native Matthias Meyer who teams up with Ryan Davis on the evocative "Hope", famed local duo Tiefschwarz deliver the slow burning and moody tech house of "Control", Sweden's La Fleur (of Power Plant fame) delivers the acidic bump and shuffle of "Femton" and former Stattbad resident and Beste Modus boss Cinthie gets deep on the classic house sound of "Hatschi Hatschi" which has a whole heap of swing to it!

Review: Muna is one of Germany's longest-running clubs, and only in recent years did it set up a label arm. This explains why it has attracted talent like Cassy and Timo Maas for previous releases and why this sixth instalment features a rare track from Tobi Neumann. The veteran DJ's "All The Soldiers" is a pumping, pulsating affair that marries Detroit depth with a tight electronic groove. The release also features Poker Flat boss Steve Bug in fine form with the grinding, acid-tinged "Where's The Clap" and a typically deep, swirling groove from Jacob Korn courtesy of the percussive "Mindfulness". It's not all big names though, and the release also features a tripped out vocal house tune from Magit Cacoon.

Review: Poker Flat boss Steve Bug and one half of Martini Bros. DJ Cle go way back. As friends, DJs, co-producers and label mates: the pair have enjoyed a close bond for nearly 20 years. Their debut on Joris Voorn's label sees them stepping back into the studio On "Together" they serve up some kickin' new school acid. This is the kind of afterhours tech house that just reeks of mischief. The "Alternative mix" up next works the suspense of that reverb drenched 303 and the druggy vocals to maximum effect and sure to create a headrush or two before that powerful drop arrives. It's a more classic Chicago acid affair on "All Right" with the trademark shuffle bump and hiss of another beloved classic: well the good ol' Roland Tr-808 of course, complete with some sweet diva vocal samples to boot.

Review: Paris' infamous Rex Club release the next volume on their in house series, with Poker Flat boss Steve Bug at the helm on the fittingly titled Rexology EP. Starting off with the deep and hypnotic tech house of "What's Happening", which has one seriously humming bassline that's just perfect for dancefloor dynamics. On the flip, Rotterdam's finest Benny Rodrigues steps up to deliver a typically functional techno remix, with some stomping cyclicality that will surely appeal to DJs. Final offering "Berlinian Rexing" is a very Berlin style dark journey track, with the mandatory wonky bassline and dark atmosphere that will appeal to a wider cross section of DJs.

Review: Long-standing German tech-house legend Steve Bug, founder of both Pokerflat and Dessour, returns to the latter label with something a bit special, and likely to satisfy all of your DJ needs. The producing don has taken it upon himself to remix a twelve tunes, all from different artists that have shaped the sound of house and techno as we know it today. You'll find Bug's retouches on artists like Simon Baker, Manuel Tur, and even Lovebirds. However, the special moments come from his sleek Re-Dub of Chez Damier's mythical house bomb "New York Dub", a stripped back edit of Laurent Garnier's "Whistle For Frankie, and the gorgeously deep swells of his remix of "Pensum" by Francis Harris. Masterful, and very much recommended.
