Review: Steve O'Sullivan's 'Green Trax Vol 2' is a compelling continuation of his minimalist explorations, following his 2021 debut album. This release delves deeper into the essence of stripped-back techno, showcasing O'Sullivan's expertise in crafting intricate, evolving soundscapes. 'Kesk' opens with brisk pacing and a Detroit-inspired minimalism that sets an energetic yet understated tone. Its hypnotic rhythm feels like a nod to the genre's roots while maintaining a contemporary edge. 'Calias (Switch Mix)' takes a more experimental turn, with alien-like textures and subtle, subliminal changes that unravel over time, creating an evolving soundscape that's both dynamic and meditative. Other highlights include 'Verde (Remix)', which pushes the boundaries with an abstract rhythm, offering a lesson in techno's transformative potential. Sparse yet impactful, 'Groente' strips everything down to primal elements, delivering a raw and immersive experience. Magariisa introduces chime-like sounds amidst alien abstractions, blending the strange and the beautiful in a uniquely creative way. Closing with 'Yashill (Raw Alt Mix)', the EP ventures into sci-fi territory with tight production and a futuristic feel that's both engaging and thought-provoking. 'Green Trax Vol 2' is a masterclass in minimal techno, balancing innovation with a deep respect for the genre's foundations. O'Sullivan's artistry shines throughout.

Review: Steve O'Sullivan has been a prolific collaborator around the deep techno and minimal scene for a long time now, and he really hammers that point home with this expansive project on Sushitech. The Mosaic maestro teams up with artists ranging from premier league titans like Ricardo Villalobos and Brawther through to emergent talents such as Soela and Ben Buitendijk. Each guest artist brings their particular slant to their track, but O'Sullivan's overarching deepness is the glue that binds the release together in a swirl of dubby pads. The results are consistently classy, but you knew that already right?

Review: Hard to believe, but it's 25 years since the emergence of Steve O'Sullivan's dub moniker, and now Lempuyang has the honour of presenting the first full length album of all new material. Over the span of nine tracks, Steve takes us on a version excursion, exploring a mixture of dub rhythms alongside a healthy dose of wizardry to work the floor. Featuring collaborations from Hidden Sequence, Another Channel, and vocals from Prince Morella. Strictly for connoisseurs - and yet utterly essential!

Review: Lempuyang's third offering is an outstanding split release between Steve O'Sullivan & Hydergine, label bosses for Mosaic/Bluetrain & Ranges. In 'Binary Riddim' Steve delivers a two-part dub track spanning >13 minutes, seriously heavy in the low end; melancholy strings in the first half, progressing to outright menacing chord stabs in the latter. A versatile track offering something for both warm-up and the dancefloor. Elsewhere we have 'Mystic Light' and 'Lunar Eclipse' from Hydergine. Deep, dubby atmospherics meander over a weighty 909 kick on the first, subtle minimalism a la Terrence Dixon pitched down on the latter. Essential release!

Review: The mid to late 90s UK scene was one of the great periods in techno and Steve O'Sullivan was one of the reasons that made it so exciting. As this compilation of tracks on his 90s Green imprint and some unreleased material from this period shows, he was a pioneer of the stripped back, dubbed out techno groove. "Wyrdd" and "Pr?sinos" see him drop propulsive, Detroit-stye minimal grooves with echoes of classic Rob Hood techno, while "Berdea" is a repetitive, tonal track. In other instances, the compilation shows O'Sullivan in more contemplative mode, audible on the deep, rolling "Viridi", while on "Kijani", he shows his more abstract side.

Review: The Lempuyang label gets off to a strong start by inviting one of the dons of dubby minimal techno to lay down some peerless material. Steve O'Sullivan's Bluetrain moniker is revered by anyone who knows their onions in the annals of UK techno, and he's on imperious form as the Homegrown Dubs EP fires up with the gaseous chord drops of 'Bubble Up'. 'Go With The Flow' is a sleeker, more uptempo affair with a snappy beat to appeal to the DJs out there, while 'Two Foot Terrorist' maintains the pace with some deeper metallic ink bursts for variation. 'Straight To The Back' channels the billowing tones of the A1 into a more groove-oriented form in case you want the tick of the hi-hat to steady your sea legs.

Paralyzed Dub - (2:34) 112 BPM
Review: The fifth Future Primitive release, Babylon Paralysis, sees the label work with an all-time favourite UK techno artist Steve O'Sullivan. A reissue of a classic slab of late '90s Bluetrain material from Steve in the shape of "Congo Shuffle", which originally surfaced as an untitled track on the timeless Echo Freaks 12". Newly extended and edited by O'Sullivan, "Congo Shuffle" has been lavishly cut at the Exchange giving new life to this bottom feeding monster.
Elsewhere on the EP, Steve blesses us with two brand new productions continuing the sub-heavy theme. "Invisible Guest" steps away from the straight up 4/4 productions nailed in recent years in favour of a stealthy broken dub approach that wouldn't be out of place on go-to Bristol label Idle Hands. "Paralyzed Dub" is both the inspiration for the release title and another classic demonstration of Steve's ability to stun listeners with very few elements. Play loud.

Review: Believe it or not, but the Lessizmore imprint is in its tenth year of service, and while this makes us all feel a little older, it also makes us feel a little more like dancing. They've prepared a special release for this anniversary and, unsurprisingly, this compilation is filled with utter bombs from some of the hottest properties in house, techno and minimal. Just for you to get a taste of this beast, you have winner after winner from peeps like San Proper, Deadbeat, Mathias Kaden, Mike Shannon, Magda, Steve O'Sullivan....shall we go on? No, we think you get the picture.
