Review: Good4Nothing Records always tend to put out music that rests on the foundations of UK underground, the cross-over influences of jungle and D&B. it's always a fresh sound and it always brings up connotations of Boomtown, free parties and sunny afternoons. Twisted, gnarled jump up is the main focus here in the second part of their 10-year anniversary celebrations and Complex is a good example of how it goes down, his track 'Night Time' blowing and flowing through with all the power of the winter winds. Danger's 'Falling' is yet more filth, with a powerful drum line and punchy sub-bass that bangs in and out of the range. Excellent compilation.

Review: Liondub's renowned Street Series continues in full force and this next instalment is courtesy of Stranger, a producer who comes with some serious heat on this one. All five of these cuts mean business and our favourites are the steppy bits, 'Bad' especially, which combines apocalyptic vibes with urban sonics to create a powerful patchwork of force and energy, all underpinned by a broken percussive line. The other four are also strong and we're definitely looking forward to hearing these out and about.

Review: Diamond Audio is a label whose music we regularly talk about and this single from Stranger has all the reasons why their jump-up sound is worth mentioning. This single isn't one for the liquid heads, those people who prefer their music gentle, delicate and crafted with a deft touch. This one is for those who don't mind if tunes are bit rough around the edges, as long as it's made up for in pure energy and a sense of reckless abandon. 'Game Face' does exactly that, with huge synth lines mirrored in percussion packed full of physicality and muscle. 'Nemesis' is equally devilish, with yet more huge basses and synths just tearing each other to bits.

Review: Stranger danger! Little is known about this mystery murker right now but trust us, his music speaks volumes... Hard, insistent, spiky volumes, "Digital Science" takes the lead with a strange angular staccato riff that bends itself around the brisk skippy drums to create a rough-but-smooth sensation. Looking for something a little grottier or swampy? Jump on "Module Error" for some croaked-out twistedness. We need more of this... Stranger best not be a stranger!

Review: The latest split release on Ressort starts in firing form, with Dutch DJ / producer Mitchel 'Stranger' Polderman delivering the hard, stomping funk and nocturnal stabs of "Granaatappel". There is a similar approach on Ekserd's "Heavy Stepping Threeway", where shiny synth riffs are underpinned by a surging, rhythm and kicks so submerged and steely they would sink a submarine. "Duality", by Gonzo MD, strips away any semblance of melody, leaving just a rough, grainy rhythm track, while Irish producer Myler's "Outside Late" is the most nuanced contribution, with spooky synth slivers unfolding over a skeletal groove. It's only a temporary digression though, and Trivmph's "Radius" ends the release with a wild acid meltdown.

Review: The Main Course label keeps getting stronger and stronger, a powerful beast that offers consistently high levels of bass and more. This is the third chapter of their Year compilations and, once again, we're presented with a heavy assortment of gnarly rhythms from players like Kid Kamillon, Damn Kids, Kito, Three Mike B. The thing is, if you're looking for a good dose of contemporary base that sits all under one hefty compilation, you've pretty much struck gold with this.

Review: Boy, it's their instalment of the This Is Night Bass series and, as always, it's a tight and severely jam-packed bag of pure bass-ridden quality. The rhythm carrying the best part of the release is one that locks into 4/4 mode, but the melodies, low frequencies and vocals contain something seriously UK about them. In fact, if you're looking for purist British house music with a garage flavour then you'v hit the right spot; it's as if these guys have tele transported back to 2000/2001, when the roots of dubstep were being laid-down from the foundations of garage and bassline. YES.

The nine sizzlers included here really do capture a snapshot of here the bass scene is currently at. Highlights include the doomy house of "Bodyback", the raw techy disco of Sinden & Bot's "Grit Manis" and the brooding jacker "Shotgun" by Landis & LaPace.
