Review: What a year it has already been for the DUPLOC collective. A crew that has done more than almost any to uphold and push the future of dubstep forward, both as a label and as a general entity. This latest drop sees them pull together this enormity of their 'BLXCK TXPES' releases for one almighty collection, bringing together the likes of Oxossi, Ternion Sound, Wraz, ENiGMA Dubz, Hypho and many other titan-weight producers for possibly the most loaded dubstep drop in recent years. Although previously released, it's fair to name a few highlights, including the super jittery subs of Roklem & Sebalo's 'Shake The System', the bulbous bass bounces of Lost's 'Level Up' and of course, the authentic sounds of Hamdi with his generational smasher 'Skanka'.

Review: In all honesty, we are running out of words to describe the pure domination we are seeing from the Duploc camp, especially with their output thriving heavily in 2023's unique dubstep ecosystem. For this latest offering, they celebrate their 100th official drop with a regal arrangement of guests, including the likes of Lost, Wraz, Rugby, Ternion Sound, ENiGMA Dubz and more, all of whom have pulled out their weightiest weapons in combined celebration. If you wanted a full on display of the majesty currently at work within dubstep's deep catacombs, then look no further than this epic selection, with our favourites including the ground mulching bass melodies of Hebbe's 'The Insider', next to Mystic State's warming rework of 'Voice' from Opus, and of course Hamdi's rave-ready synth action explored within 'Immortal'. There aren't many collectives doing more than the Duploc team right now.

Review: Whenever the Duploc banner is raised, we know the party is about to get that little bit weightier as they this time return with a spicy drop from Substrada, unloading four palpable rollers for our system-ready enjoyment. The opener, entitled 'Eternal' plays the role of a mysterious title track, fusing eastern style woodwind with organic percussive pops and an a mind-melting bassline, before 'City Of Brass' pushes things to a whole new level through unpredictable syncopation and dizzying melodic darts. From here, 'Mogis' arrives with a much more metallic feel, pumping out grizzly synth curls and sharpened drum slaps, before 'Psycho' unloads an electrifying backdrop of synthetic jitters to close off the EP with a striking finale. Awesome work as per!

Review: It's safe to say that across the now, global sphere of dubstep fandom, there aren't many imprints that can boast as much weight as Duploc, who have hear delivered yet another awesome compilation, as '140% DUBSTEP' sees them welcome a number of their heaviest hitter onside for a truly vibrant display. Featuring the likes of Ternion Sound, Roklem & Sebalo, 11th Hour, Substrada and Gnasha to name a few, they have pulled out all the stops to deliver a truly raucous collection. This project primarily explore the dingier side of the dubstep sphere, with the VIP mix of SBK's 'One Man' providing an eerie, string driven thump, alongside Merricat Black's creepy squelcher in 'Whistler's Paradise' and the drum-heavy rhythms of Dusty's 'Grug'. Our highlights would have to include both the system shaking synth slaps of Elidan's 'Nar' original, alongside the innovative sampling approach of Handsome Tigers' 'Baile Dub'. This is a collection any dubstep fanatic is going to want to own.

Review: As one of the most undeniably consistent dubstep imprints of 2022, we are thrilled to see the Infernal Sounds crew turning the heat up right from the start of the year as they deliver a mega compilation project, featuring 17 absolute sizzlers. The range that Infernal Sounds are able to deliver is very apparent across this project from start to finish, from the otherworldly chord shimmers of Conzi's 'Drift' to the more sublow synthesiser sweeps of 'Executioner' from Blottarz and all the way back to the intricate percussive mastery of Bisweed's 'By My Side'. It's an all star cast, with the likes of Mistah, Substrada, Dayzero, Gnesha, Kodama and more all providing heavy hitters, with our favourites including E S P's super spooky whirlpool entitled 'Open Mind', next to Saraphim's super smooth 'Cool Box' original.

Review: Oh Lord, yes! It's such a shame that the world at large mostly associates the term 'dubstep' with shockingly bad EDM and gobby Yanks with ludicrous haircuts, because as you and I both know, the genre at its best takes dub, two-step and a little bleep-style subsonic trickery, and somehow crafts them into a THC-powered vessel that'll carry you all the way from the very depths of the ocean floor to the furthest reaches out of outer space. Thankfully, Locus Sound are here to remind the world of that with a 12-track, 12-artist comp that's a red-eyed headnodder's delight from start to finish. Superb stuff.

Review: For the third edition of their highly respected '140 ALLSTARS' series, The DUPLOC team have assembled a stunning selection for us to sink our teeth into. We open up this six track episode with the heavyweights of our time: Ternion Sound. They land in stunning form as '422' delivers a monstrous piece of synthetic mastery across a couple of spooky melodic backdrops to ramp up the pressure from the jump. Next, Substrada takes things to the swamps as 'Flexer' combines crunchy percussion with jittery bass drives, with Q100 unleashing a much more subtle weapon next in 'BDN', focussing on tidy hi-hat melodies and hard hitting bass action below. We get even wonkier next as Pharma lets the circus loose on the super syncopated dissonance of 'Umbra', with DubDiggerz then delivering a punch of subby heat with an Asian twist in 'Silly'. Finally, 207 arrives with 'Pressure Point', an unpredictable nest of creepy melody and industrial drum stabs to round us off with a dash of additional individuality.

Review: Another Basskruit drop in the shop means another bag of energy as Substrada lands to unleash a top notch bag of heaters. We begin with 'Shade's From', a bubbling exploration between guttural synth lurches and creepy atmospherics, before 'Slippery' lets fly a hypnotic display of circular melodic structure, utilizing breathy synth sounds and potent 808's below. From here, 'Voidwalker' brings forward a really mobile bass sound that sweeps across the low end with some dizzying vim, with drippy percussion working its magic above, leading tidily into the final track 'Maniscus'. This one builds itself around an eastern-inspired lead melody, trap-style drums and hard hitting subs below to make it an epic outro track, signing off another successful combination for both Substrada & the Basskruit team.

Review: Locus Sound appear to have kick started 2022 with a pinch of serious energy as they welcome Substrada inside here for a fabulous display of dubstep design, kicking off with haunted percussive clicks and fluttering atmospheric layouts of 'Brocky', a seriously sublow title track. This is followed immediately by Schim's breaks infused rethink, perfect for a mid-rave switch up, leading into the super crunchy drum stutters and shifting synthesizer scrapes of 'Demonic Tutor', once again switching up the flavour. Finally, 'Morphic Pool' unloads a final box of grizzly goodness, combining shimmering synth sweeps with stuttered drum punches, rounding off the EP with a real sense of style.

Review: It's always an exciting thing to see the Duploc team leap into action, with this new compilation entitled 'BLXCKTXPES' being a ferocious way to kick start 2022. Featuring a range of artists, this project explores the underbelly of dubstep's most grizzly soundsmiths, with the likes of Infekt, Ternion Sound, Mesck, MYTHM, Wraz, Substrada & Widow all playing vital roles and supplying us with sub-shaking originals, adding even more firepower to Duploc's already stacked arsenal of a catalogue. Our highlights for this one would have to include the floating synthesizer sweeps and angelic pad textures of Ternion Sound's 'Vision Quest', which again gives us a fabulous journey through more mellow dubstep themes, alongside the unpredictable percussive twists and aggressive string designs of 'Smile Lines' from Oxossi. What a selection it is!

Review: 2021 has been a fantastic year for the Locus Sound catalogue, continuously adding spicy new features and artists to the table over the course of the year. Next up from them, the third edition of their 'Various Locus Sound Compilation,' series, this time welcoming 13 new creations to ruffle any system. The tracklisting once again showcases some of the most exciting Locus regulars, including the likes of Substrada, Mistah, OSCO, E S P, Nomia Grawinkel and more. The whole project oozes dubstep-inspired originality, with the Locus sound itself being such a dungeon-driven pot of colour. There are some immediate standouts we of course have to mention, with Chad Dubz arriving on remix duty for LOTU's 'Childsplay' being one of them. Alongside this, the hypnotic chimes and haunted atmospheric design of 'Passerby Unknown' from Proove has to be mentioned, with the Spanish inspired guitar melodies and grizzly reeses of Saraphim & Senncoria's 'Midnight' being another corker we had to mention. Excellent work!

Review: The Infernal Sounds crew are at it again, this time letting loose the potent production stylings of Substrada, who delivers a powerful four track drop upon his return.We begin with the title track 'Daka', a swampy exploration into dripping percussion and minimal LFO technique, giving us a grimey output from the jump. We then swerve into the more stripped back drum arrangement and pulsating subs of 'Hush', before jumping into two very exciting collaborative features. Firstly, Cogo jumps on board for the more eerie atmospheric arrangements and jittering percussive pings of 'The Thing', before the more syncopated rhythmic designs and fluttering woodwind toots of 'Deken' alongside Schim rounds off the EP with a slap and a half.

Review: We always try to keep an eye out for upcoming Substrada drops, so when we saw his unique production stylings were teaming up with the wonderful team at Dread Or Dead, we knew we would be in for a treat. We open up with the precisely designed LFO purrs and bubbling sub structures of 'Whale Dance', a fitting title track for this fabulous selection, coupled with sub-busting sizzler of a remix from EKSTR, who takes the track and reformats it into a dubwise experiment. We also get to take in two more originals, firstly, the industrial synth grinds and metallic drum licks of 'On The Run' and secondly the super-syncopated rhythms and glass-like chimes of 'Grained', giving a serious dose of depth to an already solid project. Excellent work as always!

Review: It definitely looks like the Basskruit team have uncovered a bit of a gem with this one as Substrada kicks off in 2021 with a real blast, delivering three absolute sizzlers on this crazy EP project. We begin with the constantly shifting soundscapes and progressive percussive inputs of 'Eerie Lab', which sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the EP. Next, 'Yoxi' sends us down to swamp with some trickling rhythms and gnarly low-end expressions, before we move to the finale in 'Urdak', a super grizzly roller, dripping with intricate sub designs and spooky atmospheric pressure, capping off a very impressive body of work.

Review: We are genuinely running out of words to describe just how much we are loving the FatKidOnFire journey, with good, original 140 music being their absolute forte. They invite the sounds of Substrada inside for a four track bonanza, kicking off with the spacious percussive bangs and subtle yet gnarly synthesizer slaps of 'Doom'. Next up, the London City Warlord himself: Riko Dan arrives to provide the perfect vocal addition to 'Calibre', before the chilling string influxes and organic drum work of 'Omen' alongside Caba deliver a secondary sub-punch. Caba stays on for the final track as 'Aku's Grasp' gives us a super syncopated metallic outro, rounding this one off in style.
