Review: Mind how you go! Militant Minds make light work here with this incredible fund raising VA that joins all the necessary dots you'll ever need in the bass world from hip-hop to jungle via dubstep, garage and breaks. All profits going to Mind charity, highlights across this awesome 30 track collection include the all-out jungle badness of DJ Sofa and Veak, the hybrid fusion of acts like Narna, the absolute rave Armageddon from the likes of Ac1D Vicious, deep driving D&B by Gresha and not to mention the cavalcade of crucial UK hip-hop that opens up this album from the likes of 1Jack & Redmiff, Inertia Klergy and Miles Dare. This is much more than a charity album, this is a statement. Get behind it!
Review: As ever, Hypho has arrived with an incredible amount of style and flare with this one as he returns to his home label of Manuka for a spicy four track selection, pulling together the combined forces of four top production names for a sensational collaborative project. We begin our look at this one with Sumgii's insertions on 'Gold Metal', a low riding sizzler, driven by it's unusual drum allocations and slower tempo. Next, MR.K arrives for his additional inputs on 'Suss', another slower roller, glued together with metallic snare hits and dreamy synthesizer wafts, before 'Freeze' delivers a monstrously powerful arrangement, skippy as you like and featuring the handy work of Opus. Finally, 'Etiquette' sees Rygby make the final appearance with some very powerful sub pulses and an overall haunted tone, rounding off this excellent body of work in style.
