Review: Berlin hero Sven Weisemann makes his debut on Danish dub techno authority Echocord and follows up last year's mighty fine Separate Paths EP on Delsin. Carrying on from said release, Weisemann sure remains consistent with these four servings of expertly executed dub techno excursions on the Bilateral Relations EP. Opening up with the lush and evocative ambient house of "Lunation" which bears a similar sound to his recent efforts on Mojuba, he then serves up the straight up title track: minimal dub techno done proper. "Monistic" is more typical Echocord faire: glacial mysterious and deep. Finally the Valve tr9 remix of "Decimation" has more of a techno influence and a tougher rhythm section, but the haunting dub chords and greyscale textures remain.

Review: This excellent German dub techno label delivers again with an unusual mix from the Salz duo. The opening segment focuses on ambient, atmospheric sounds, with Stefan Gubatz's downtempo beats and ethereal textures impressing most. Gubatz is also the producer who brings the mix up to the next level with the chiming chords and seductive off-beats of "Offshore". From that point on, the mix swings into action wth the chord-heavy groove of Salz's take on Riley Reinhold & Stefan Gubatz's "The Next And The Next" and the chiming deep techno of (Joergmueller's take on Salz' "Stainless Dub"). Despite this, the label's mellow side is never too far away, as evidenced by the jazzy flourishes of Sven Weisemann's killer house tune "Elapse".

Elution
Elution - (8:24) 116 BPM
Elapse (FDF's Espale mix) - (7:26) 120 BPM Hot
Review: If you assumed that Weisemann belonged to the legion of cookie-cutter deep house producers from Germany, you'd be mistaken. On "Elution", he delivers a dreamy, but individualistic take on modern house. Gentle, lullaby-like keys unfold over stripped back, low tempo beats. The whole thing has an ethereal feeling, floating in the air instead of plodding along. Meanwhile, FDF's Espale remix plows a different route; more pared back and driving, its dubby beats and plaintive chords sound like they were inspired by Chain Reaction. But despite containing this extra dubby layer, this version also manages to retain the original's understated approach

Elapse
Elapse - (7:32) 120 BPM
Light Sway - (8:01) 120 BPM Hot
Review: Germany's Sven Weisemann has been keeping a low profile recently and to be honest, we're super psyched that he's back in action. It's not surprising to see him release on Cologne's Telrae Records, given their approximation with suave dub techno and outsider deep house. "Elapse" is a classic Weisemann moment, where shuffling clusters of hi-hats and snares are wound up into a neat packet of tumbling synths and progressive arrangements. "Light Way" is Sven's other side, one which indulges in deeper, more melancholic sonic possibilities. The subtle weight of the kick drum pushes its surrounding melodies for a whole 10 minutes of mutating and unravelling dub-infused pleasure. Mr. Weisemann on top form as usual!
