Butterfly (Remixes)
Butterfly (Phibes remix) - (3:55) 107 BPM Hot
Butterfly (Wolfgang Lohr remix) - (5:50) 126 BPM
Review: The new single from Italy's Swingrowers is the first from their forthcoming album. Known for their remixes of Caro Emerald and Jamie Berry, as well as tour supports for Caravan Palace and Parov Stelar, the Swingrowers are one of the original pioneers of the electro swing sound. An accomplished four-piece live, they have toured North America, Europe and India with their mix of styles as varied as jazz, hip-hop, electronica and gypsy swing. On offer here are some stellar remixes of "Butterfly". Phibes rendition of it injects some nu-skool breaks (can you still call it that?) style flavour into it while Wolfgang Lohr's remix throws down some brilliantly uplifting funky house shenanigans.

Review: A lot has changed in the world of music since Freshly Squeezed dropped the first installment of their eponymous label compilation back in 2013. For one, the term electro-swing has become a household name with even the UK Eurovision entry adopting this musical style. Still, this label is where you get the real stuff and here we are treated to another 15 examples. Highlights include the attitude-heavy, dubstep-flecked "Swing Ya Beard" by JFB & Beardyman, Jem Stone's big beat bouncer "Be Bop 2 Hip Hop" and the tough house slammer "Lick The Spoon" by Foxy Cheex & Jem Stone.

Review: With Eurovision in the air and the UK being represented by Electro Velvet, electro-swing has never been more current than now. Swingrowers plough a similar trough to Electro Velvet, producing slick, light pop-swing (with a little extra bass) like "That's Right" guaranteed to get those jazz hands swinging on dancefloors everywhere. There are also two bonus mixes; Swing Republic going for a slower, raunchy 4/4 grind and Jamie Berry upping the killer bottom end for a wobble heavy dubstep jam.

Review: Sicilian duo Swingrowers follow up their eponymous 2012 debut album with this life-affirmin collection of wholesome swing and innocent party insinuations. Riddled with big organic instrumentation and Lorendana's emphatic, gutsy vocals, each cut tells its own tale. From the unashamed confidence and insistent rhythm & blues vibes of "That's Right" to the jazzier, piano-stroking jauntiness of "Frank" via the softer, more electronic tendencies of "Break Out", Remote is the sound of a band maturing at a rapid pace. Swing bands are a dime a dozen, but genuinely good swing bands are rarer than a platinum accordion.

Pump Up The Jam (Do Not Cover Part 3)
Pump Up The Jam - (3:49) 125 BPM
Played by: Bart&Baker
Review: A swing version of Technotronic's "Pump Up The Jam"? Now this demands a listen! Driven by super-powered accordion squeezes and a stomping 4/4 that refuses to quit, its presence is instantly felt. Coated with Swingrowers trademark harmonies and neat spittage from The Lost Fingers, this is everything a cover version should be - original, fun and wholly unique. Get pumping!
