Review: In 2003, amid a shifting landscape of closing record stores and evolving electronic music genres, Phonica Records emerged as a haven for dance and electronic music enthusiasts. Founded by Simon Rigg, Tom Relleen, and Heidi Van Den Amstel with backing from The Vinyl Factory - Phonica aimed to be a welcoming hub for all genres. Starting quietly, the shop gradually gained a strong reputation, fueled by the founders' ties to Koobla Records. Phonica thrived in its early years by championing emerging genres like electro house and minimal-micro house from labels like Kompakt and Perlon. In 2007, the Phonica record label was born, evolving into a platform for both staff and emerging talents, featuring early releases by now-established artists such as Peggy Gou and Four Tet. In 2023, celebrating its 20th anniversary, Phonica showcases its journey with 20 Years Of Phonica - a compilation boasting 18 exclusive tracks from established and rising artists across the label's diverse musical spectrum. Hot tips include tracks by Willow, Dorisburg, Ron Basejam, Roman Flugel and more!

Cafe Del Mar XXVII
Yum Yum Head Food & Fatboy Slim - "The Voice Of Experience" - (6:56) 132 BPM
Review: The legendary Cafe del Mar mix series continues just like it would if it was still the golden era of chill out, lounge time sessions circa-1997. Spearheaded by tracks from Route 8 and Till Von Sein, get your instrumental and broken beat Balearics from Kinobe - in all its cinematic glory - to a classic 7" disco mix by Electribe 101. Tip! Quantic gets a mention through the Spanish flamenco styles of "Si, Si, Si" next to some ambient trance featuring Fatboy Slim in "The Voice Of Experience". Whether you're an old school head deep into the Budda Bar sound or a young digger trying to relive that classic '90s approach to calm and bliss, Cafe del Mar never disappoints. Legendary as always.

Various / Mount Kimbie
Various - "Southgate" (DJ-Kicks) - (2:44) 134 BPM
Aleksi Perolo - "UK74R1512110" - (4:54) 134 BPM
Various - "DJ-Kicks" (Continous mix) - (49:34) 133 BPM
Review: When they were asked to put together the latest volume in the "DJ Kicks" series, Mount Kimbie boys Dominic Maker and Kai Campos drew influence from a recent six-date run supporting Actress. As a result, the 22 tracks they have chosen - here presented in DJ friendly, unmixed form - tend towards the experimental and off-kilter, touching on a myriad of styles (ambient, industrial-era experimentalism, South American influenced tropical drum jams, spacey modular techno, raw-edged peak-time jams, mind-altering acid weirdness and intergalactic electro all feature) in the process. Highlights are naturally plentiful, from the hypnotic dancefloor intensity of Stanislav Tolkachev and bleeping body-jack of A Sagittariun, to the skewed warmth of Severed Heads and the dream-like weirdness of their own exclusive contribution, "Southgate".
