Review: Three years on from the release of his collaborative album with Chicagodeep, 'Metaphoric Expressions', Perpetual Rhythms co-founder Taelue delivers his debut solo EP, a warm and groovy collection of cuts that explores similar sonic territory to the work of Ron Trent, Larry Heard and Rick Wade. Highlights amongst the six suitably deep and musically rich tracks on show include the swirling atmospherics, gentle melodies and jacking drums of 'Twin Flame', the ragged acid attack of 'Rage Against Oppression', the locked-in early morning hypnotism of 'The Sunken Place' (all throbbing arpeggio lines and minimalist machine percussion) and the slo-mo bliss of the pitched-down closing cut 'Reflections'.
