Review: The team over at Deeper Vision Recordings have delivered a real gem of modern reggae with this new drop from Lady Emz and Ted Ganung, who join forces for the sumptuous summer soothings of 'Justice, Truth & Love'. Imagine the most stripped back, organic, acoustic approach to reggae in 2023 and then pile a dash of dubwise class in the mix, you will find the combination unveils this wonderful original, both calming the soul and loosening your grip on reality. This one also comes complete with a full riddim mix of the instrumental, alongside a very tasty Sax mix, which gives a whole new feel to the original recordings in its compositional value. This is a special drop for sure!

Review: Greek label Kraak brings us another collection of lower-paced electronic grooves. As it's the fifth volume, fans of the label will have a pretty good idea what to expect already, but for anyone who's new to the series, contained herein you'll find plenty for ammunition for your Balearic and post-club sets - think muted, ponderous beats, dusty old jazz samples, hazy synths, fluttering Spanish guitars, birdsong and ocean sounds. Things do pick up a little tempo-wise towards the end of the album, though, to the extent that DJ Mas Corazon's 'A Better Day' could even find its way onto soulful house floors.

Review: New York City mainstays Ted Ganung and Deeper Vision Recordings return with two originals and two acoustic mixes each! Bringing a slo-mo, clapping groove to the title track (with K.Kay) which blends dub, soul, reggae and jazz is a pitch perfect style for those Manhattan nights, with its acoustic mix putting more emphasis on percussion and guitars. "Self-Knowledge Riddim" does a little more of the same however this version swoons at large for some melancholic love that's softened up oh-so-well by its acoustic version. Get Repatriated.

Review: DJ, producer and remixer Ted Ganung outta NYC hooks up with tenor and alto saxophonist Rosemary Quaye for this four-track Universal Love EP. Merging liquid drum and bass with broken beat, house music and splashes of calypso jazz, it presents a third featurette for Rosemary Quaye in a row following Deeper Visions I Told You single and remixe package. Hot summer night jazz takes flight in "Rejuvenation" that's seemingly cut from the same cloth as "Free Spirit" only underpinned by a rolling drum and bass groove. "Universal Love" offers up some extra downtempo jazz contexts next to the dubby tropes of "Serendipity" that caps off an EP of four distinct and uplifting jams of freestyle, electro-jazz.

Review: Deeper Vision does exactly what their name would suggest: they purvey high-quality D&B beats which are certain to make you think deeply, and give you a different vision on life. Furney kicks things off with 'Get Up & Go' and its serene territory, with wistful vocals from Lady Emz making up the high end of the range and punchy low-frequency pulses occupying the low. 'Paradox of Choice' rests less on the sampling and more on the top-quality synths, underpinned by another wholesome bassline. 'Ambivalence' is the funkiest of the bunch due to its moving back end and luscious flow, and it represents well the vibe and mission of this superb VA.

Review: In twenty years we will be able to look back and wholeheartedly agree, that there really haven't been many vocalists more consistent that the inevitable Macka B, who here teams up with Ted Ganung for another conscious message in 'Stop It, idiot Ting', a stripped back percussive display, perfect for delivering it's potent meaning. The release also comes complete with a sack of high profile remix additions, with the likes of Jack & Jointz, Roommate, P Skinna, Mukiyare, Anthony Granata and Re-Load all supplying various alterations exploring a wide range of genres and sounds, allowing Macka's important words to be heard in nearly any environment imaginable!

Review: Indulging in forms of dancehall and reggae to lovers rock, deep house, balearic strings and downtempo grooves, New Yorker Ted Ganung arrives on Kraak with Instrumental Insight. Turning in a solid four-track dose for the Greek label, Ganung throws down some mean strides of urban street and hip hop flavours in "New Kicks" next to some rhode-driven and summer, tropical twang in "Oracle". Feel the breeze. Subtle R&B elements next to some wobble dubstep bass make it into "Truthfulness" with tougher two step vibes in lead track "Instrumental Insight". Get some.

Review: Deeper Vision Recordings outta NYC returns with the worldy, instrumental and broken beat sound of Lungomare. Spearheaded by Ted Ganung - dropping memorable numbers like waltzing slow dance "Dream Connection Project" to the filtered and pitched calpsco of "I'm Grateful Riddim" - there's downbeat hip hop instrumentals in Jam Thieves "New Balance" to some subtle and sassy salsa in Rum Guzzler's "Cuban Goods". Find the chilled out dub reggae funk in Quincy Jointz' "Echo Chamber" and a sweet staccato piano house loop in the Wu-Tang reminiscent "Loaded Question".

Review: Next up from the Deeper Vision Recordings team we see a very highly rated link up as the world renowned Macka B teams up with the super exciting Ted Ganung for a stripped back piece of musical poetry with 'Stop It, Idiot Ting'. This one really does strip the island sound back to its most basic form as floating guitar plucks are aligned with tripletted percussive drips and a subtle bassline to deliver an introspective message. Macka B is known for his storytelling ability, and he's pulled it off again with some quite charming indeed.

Review: The good folks over at Deeper Vision Recordings are coming at your ears this week with a fiery, upbeat and essential compilation that blends together several different traditions of the UK underground, including drum & bass, jungle, reggae and more. Dub Defense's remix of 'Party Non Stop' is a standout, it's raucously heavy breaks flowing through the middle of a wobbling, classic bassline and underpinning Ted Ganung's flowing bars. There is a wicked contribution from V Recordings' Think Tonk, whilst David Boomah makes an appearance on Granata's remix of his tune Nuff of Dem Re-Load. Wicked compilation.

Review: An EP/album hybrid from versatile, soul-fused Chicago singer GGoodei and NYC dub doyen Gangung. GGoodei's vocals sit somewhere between Charlemagne and Chickaboo while Ted's beats range from pumping timeless house ("Open My Eyes") to smoky hip-hop ("Conflict In Me") to classic Goodlooking style jungle rollers ("Everyday I Wonder"). The bulk of the work, however, is straight up drum & bass. Bright, breezy and liquid-edged from the fluttering horns and purring sub of "The Writings On The Wall" to the crystalline guitar slides of "Hold You Close", Gangung and GGoodei's partnership works perfectly.

From the euphoric skank bubbles of "Lock Da Place to the heads-down thunder rolls of "No Hold Back Riddim VIP", every corner of the 170BPM dance is covered. Other highlights include the blissed out synth weaves on "Hell Gate" and the classic jungle motifs on the drum dynamics of "Everyday I Wonder". 10 examples of quintessential D&B that harmonise with influences from the wider electronic picture and pay homage to all aspects of the genre, Deeper Vision have a fine-tuned focus that's not to be missed.

Review: Ted Ganung conquers the weight of the world in this uplifting release on Liquid Brilliants. Shuffling drums, rolling beats and swooning vocals are in merry abundance in the title track, which features Dirty Genes and Mariella, and this one rolls along for the duration. Lovely stuff. "What Eyes Can't See" up next, is a bit more of a coy one, with quirky SFX, thumping drum kicks and a pumping Cyantific-style melody, which adds a turbo charge of energy to the piece and demands some dancefloor action. Compelling stuff here from Ted Ganung.
