Review: Holy moly! Calyx & Teebee aren't messing around this year are they? Demolishing everything in their wake with firing one-track scuds since February, "Ruffian" "Scaramanga" and "Conquest" have seen the duo going back to their underground, roughhouse roots in three rowdy different ways. Now comes "Blown", a rampant electrified sandpaper jam that sounds similar to early BSE or Stakka & Skynet but with C&T-level production flexing. Techy heads-down body-slamming bliss... Prepare to be blown away (not sorry)
Review: Reviewed by Klute: Well this brings back many memories for obvious reasons and its nice to listen and think back to this time. In the early 2000's Metalheadz moved its Sunday sessions over to the Limelight at Cambridge Circus in London and I remeber going religiously every Sunday around the time this LP was being compiled, so we all heard most of these tunes being tested out in the club. Great times. Stand outs for me are Jonny L, Marcus intalex, Spirit, Total Science, myself of course and most of all The Invaderz masterpiece Revealed. Still to this day my fav ever tune from them. Great compilation.
Review: The mighty Calyx & Teebee return with their first new Ram tracks since their album 1x1 last year. Taking a step back from the heavier, full-frontal sounds they're famed for, "Ruffian" takes us back to their time on Moving Shadow with twisted, heavily-sprung jungle fire - all spaced out drums and textural trippiness that's not dissimilar to Dub Phizix or Skeppy-style track. Just one track for now... We're excited to see where the premiership duo is taking us this year.
Review: Rewind: 2000-2005, Teebee was laying the foundations for the premiership position he has today with an immense body of work that shock the then-predominantly UK scene to its core. Few Europeans burgled our imagination and attention like this man: everyone from Noisia to Chase & Status felt the influence of TeeBee.... And the strength of this collection reminds us how. Still stark, futuristic and diverse enough to pack powerful punches 10-15 years later, from the massive vocal soul ferocity of "Let Go" to the writhing alien space chase "Human Reptile" via the harrowed pads, brushed drums and deep dream flute of "The Path" and the elephantine groaning riff hurter "Evil Ways", these tunes document a pivotal time in both TeeBee's career and global drum & bass in general. A highly timely release essential for all age of junglists.
