Review: In 2023, Music From Memory celebrates its remarkable decade-long journey with 10 - a captivating anniversary compilation that encapsulates the label's groundbreaking archival releases, cross-generational collaborations, and enduring creative partnerships. Inviting artists from their roster to contribute, the compilation weaves together a diverse tapestry of sound, featuring contributions from both foundational figures like Gigi Masin and emerging talents like The Zenmenn. Mirroring the label's ethos, 10 transcends temporal and spatial boundaries, spanning from Vito Ricci's "Da Hamptons" (1985) to Yu Su & J. Wilson's "Mitti Atar" (2023) - representing 10 countries across 17 tracks. This immersive musical journey, flowing seamlessly from start to finish, serves as a poignant reflection on Music From Memory's evolution. The compilation also becomes a significant tribute as it coincides with the passing of label co-owner Jamie Tiller during the finalisation of MFM066 - making 10 an emotionally resonant testament to the collective journey of the team.

Review: Washington DC-based label Future Times operate on electronic music's more leftfield fringes - previous compilations have, for instance, featured early appearances by the likes of Hunee and Shanti Celeste - and here, for their landmark 50th release, they serve up a 23-track compilation that will appeal to the musically adventurous and sonically broad-minded. For deep house lovers, Martyn & Dolo Percussion's dubby 'Misfit City Rolling', Baronhawk's jazzy 'Phickle Pickle' and the (very) off-kilter disco of Garies' 'Don Bongo' would be good places to start; the space-age footwork/electro of Greg Beato's 'Peste' is interesting too, even if some of more out-there cuts may prove a tad too experimental for some...

Review: Terekke's recent run of form is more impressive as the weeks go by, with this new Improvisational Loops LP being the perfect follow-up to the recent Plant Age release. In truth, this is the sort of material which we love to hear from the man. Moreover, we're super psyched to see the producer on Music From Memory, an imprint which has been a constant source of pleasure for us over the last 5 years; the match couldn't have come at a better time. Holland's finest have really got the best out of Terekke, with this album expanding the borders of his musical palette further than ever before, and while he was known for dreamy deep house in the past, this new LP offers some truly stupendous soundscaping that offers the very best of the enlarged 'new age' glow. Cinematic, to say the least.

Review: Rather than flooding the market with constant batches of releases, Terekke has opted for the quality over quantity option, a decision to which we?re very much partial to. Aside from a handful of releases for several fledgling imprints, the producer has mainly stuck to his native LIES label, Ron Morelli?s powerhouse. Much to our pleasure, both parties seem to be veering more towards the ambient space, and Plant Age is very much an expression of that, gliding majestically between new age and house, constantly morphing and shape-shifting with each new track. This LP is Terekke through and through, touching down with all sorts of airy, tropical aesthetics that are wonderful both on their own, and as one whole piece of music. Dreamy and ever-expanding, this is outsiderism at its best, and surely puts the imitators in their place. Here is the contemporary maestro.

Review: As 2013 has progressed, the output of Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S label has become increasingly challenging, delivering a fierce blend of distorted darkroom techno and gritty industrial fuzz. Morelli is nothing if not open-minded, though, and this second label compilation - a follow-up to 2012's acclaimed American Noise, similarly featuring a disc of label highlights and a CD of unreleased bits - perfectly showcases the full gamete of the imprint's analogue-heavy sound. So, alongside the intoxicating techno drones of Svengalisghost and Vereker, we get the fluid electronics and footwork-tempo rhythms of Samantha's Vacation, the humid, dubwise electronics of Terekke, the wide-eyed goodness of Daywalker & CF, and the psychedelic synth-wave-meets-techno of Xosar. Oh, and the humid tropical warmth of Beautiful Swimmers' previously unheard "The Zoo".

Review: Brandishing a head of peppery grey hair despite his youth, the Brooklyn-based Terekke looks as distinctive as the music he makes, a sticky and extended take on electronic production described in more vivid terms by L.I.E.S. label boss Ron Morelli as "crazy, lo-fi, fucked-up, weird house music." Coupled with an enigmatic nature and a lack of tangible output since his emergence with the debut L.I.E.S. white label in the summer of 2011, the three tracks within more than live up to the expectation set upon him and demonstrate the lucid brand of barely rhythmic electronics that Terekke does so well.
