Review: For almost a quarter century, Delsin has been putting out some of the world's best electronic music. That situation didn't change in 2023. As this compilation demonstrates, the label still has an unerring knack of releasing music from the more esoteric end of the spectrum. Reedale Rise and VC-118A both deliver atmospheric strains of electro. On "Late Night Kyiv", Yan Cook pushes towards the dance floor to deliver an emotive tribute to his hometown. The compilation also consolidates Delsin's connection to Dutch artists. Steffan Robbers' Terrace project yields the emotive "Model A", while Eevo Lute co-founder Wladimir M drops the understated pulses and mysterious vocals of "Zie Het Onder Ogen / Y Faire Face". And Steve Rachmad shines as always, with the seductive Detroit techno of "Teknitron".

Versalife - "Hybrid Form" - (6:10) 137 BPM
Review: What a year it's been for Delsin. Apart from reissuing classics like the peerless techno of Sterac's "X-Tracks", the label has also cast its gaze far and wide when it comes to releasing new music. This approach has yielded the icy ambience of Vril's "Alte Seele", Artefakt's bubbling, downtempo techno groove "Iridescence" and the hypnotic, mid-tempo drums of Dino Sabatini's "Lewa". On a different tip is Jason Wynters' frenetic electro workout, "The Hunted", while Claudio PRC's "Orakle" pushes Delsin into a somewhat darker direction than usual, courtesy of its murky rhythms. Of course, it wouldn't be a Delsin compilation without some deeper sounds, which are in abundance here courtesy of two other fine reissues - the chiming chords of Parallel 9's "Helix" and Connective Zone's dreamy "Seed".

The Operator - "The Mind Strike" - (7:15) 136 BPM
Review: Djax-Re-Up is an invaluable slice of European techno history. Issued on Dekmantel as an accompaniment to the recent documentary about Djax-Up-Beats, it brings together music from the Dutch label's 90s catalogue. Featuring obscure artists like Ismistik - whose early 90s house track "Flow Chart" still sounds fresh - alongside respected producers like Glenn Underground, with the frenetic techno of "101 Dolmations" and "Real Space' and Felix Da Housecat's throbbing "Freakadelica", it serves as a reminder of the huge range of music that the label released. It also shines a light on the hugely fertile Dutch scene of the time, with Planet Gong's fragile ambience and Terrace's jacking techno-house "916 Buena Avenue (Influenza Mix)" also featuring.

Equiknoxx - "Flagged Up" (Mark Ernestus remix) - (9:36) 137 BPM
Stanislav Tolkachev - "Optical Illusions" - (7:43) 137 BPM
Review: This an altogether epic offering from Deetron; a vast collection of un-mixed tracks from his brilliant DJ Kicks mix (naturally included as a bonus cut) that is little less than a lesson in the evolution of techno over the last three decades. Amongst the 38 tracks you'll find fine representatives of a myriad of sub-genres (intelligent techno, dub techno, IDM, ambient techno, gospel techno, and so on), as well as past, present and future classics (Damier and Trent's "Morning Factory", Spacetime Continuum's "Swing Factory", Mark Ernestus's recent Equinoxx remix, the Motor City bliss of Rhythim is Rhythim AKA Derrick May's "Ka-o-tic Harmony", a brilliant old Black Dog Productions workout). In other words, it's a breathlessly brilliant collection of both well-known and obscure gems. It comes heartily recommended.
